ACP leaders shared a compelling update on our progress as the only physician-led PPS and responded to questions posed.by Panel members. The PAOP voted to accept recommendations made by the Independent Assessor (IA) during the Mid-Point Assessment. Action Plans to address these recommendations are due March 2.
ACP began its presentation with a three-minute video that showcases the many voices involved in ACP's efforts to improve health care for New Yorkers. Many thanks to our interviewees:

Why Does the United States Pay So Much for Health Care for Such Poor Quality?
An article written by ACP CEO Mario J. Paredes has been published in America magazine, the leading Catholic journal of opinion in the United States. Published since 1909, America was relaunched in January 2017 with content across multiple media platforms in addition to print. The print edition and website were relaunched as America: The Jesuit Review of Faith & Culture.
"Our country’s health care industry—again, both private and public—does a poor job at preventing illness. There is no consistent and well-thought-out strategy for providing people with effective preventive care. A substantive preventive strategy would work to strengthen the health and overall well-being of a person well before the potential onset of disease; such a strategy would take into account various dimensions that go into a person’s well-being, including psychological factors that may be linked to poverty, for example. Such a strategy would work on promoting the overall human flourishing of all members of society."
ACP's DASH-dedicated web page is set to launch this month. The online nutrition center will be home to nutritional resources, eating plans, and detailed videos in English, Spanish, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Watch the multilingual teaser video below...
February Celebrates Black History Month
“Surround yourself with people who take their work seriously, but not themselves, those who work hard and play hard.” — Colin Powell
Black History Month, or National African-American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.
Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history.
