MEDICAID OPT OUT MAILING,
NEW DSRIP CALL CENTER

In mid-October, the Department of Health began mailing "Opt Out" letters to inform Medicaid members that they may choose to decline to have their health information shared with a PPS. Members have 30 days to opt out by completing and returning a form or calling a toll-free number, although they may choose to opt out at any time in the future. Members who take no action will automatically be included.

The first mailing targeted 700,000 Medicaid members who were eligible as of September 25, had claims for ambulatory sensitive conditions and avoidable ED/inpatient utilization and were HARP eligible. In conjunction with this mailing, a dedicated DSRIP call center -- 1-855-329-8850 – is now open to Medicaid beneficiaries with DSRIP questions. The Opt-Out Letter & Form are available in English and Spanish on the new Medicaid Members section of the DOH website:
https://www.health.ny.gov/health_care/medicaid/redesign/dsrip/consumers.htm

PPS members may email their questions to dsrip@health.ny.gov with “Opt Out” in the subject line.

A second phase of the mailing – to the remaining 5+ million members – will take place in mid-February 2016 and take about a month to complete. Once these mailings are completed, newly eligible members will receive letters within 60 days of approved eligibility.
