Imagine Families,

We are very excited about the implementation of our Academic Plan for the 2016-2017 School Year. As you know, our school underwent tremendous growth in the 15-16 school year and it quickly became apparent that we needed to create a systematic plan to support our Collegiate Leaders as they implement academic curriculum.  Our ELA instruction was our focus last year and that hard work payed off for us.  We will continue to work hard on ELA, and our focus has turned to improving math instruction and support for our students.  This is the area that our school has identified as priority for improvement.  As previously shared, our faculty has identified Math Focus Standards-the curriculum that our students must master at each grade level to be a successful math learner. Students who quickly demonstrate mastery will receive enrichment during CLIMB time, while those who need extra support in Math Focus Standards will receive Math Focus Standard Recovery.

We plan to host a math night on Tuesday, September 13th so that families can hear more specifics about the Focus Standards, Common Core Mathematics Curriculum, ask questions related to math and learn what families can do to support math learning at home.  We would love for you to RSVP to this event to support our planning.  If we are expecting large numbers, we may have multiple math nights!

This week our CLIMB time is in full swing so that our Champions who need extra help will begin to receive it and those that are quickly demonstrating mastery will be extending their learning further. We are all ready to implement this plan and reap the benefits as educators and as learners.

Don't forget that every Wednesday is Late Start. Our Collegiate Leaders will utilize this time to create CLIMB time plans that reflect sessions for extra support and extension.

  • Your child will be tardy if they are not in class by 8:00 am

One of our beloved Collegiate Leaders, Kristy Stiefel is not well.  She has recently undergone surgery to remove a large mass on her ovary.  Once in surgery the doctors made the decision to perform a full hysterectomy, remove her appendix and remove several lymph nodes.  The pathology on the mass has been completed and Kristy has been diagnosed with Stage 1 Ovarian Cancer.  She has an approximately six week recovery from this extensive surgery and will undergo chemotherapy treatments during this time as well.  She needs our love and support right now!  We have a Meal Train set up to support Kristy along with a Go Fund Me in order to help her and her daughter during this time.  Please consider donating if you can.

2016-17 ANNUAL FUND
This week we launch our 2016-17 Annual Fund: Bridge the Gap.  Look for a brochure in your Champion's folder with information about the Annual Fund, its importance and how to make a donation.  The sooner donations are received, the sooner we can fund the needs identified by the school.
Together, we can "bridge the gap!"

The grade level with the most returned envelopes by this Friday will win a popsicle party!

The Annual Fund is not limited to parents/guardians, so consider passing along the information to grandparents and other family members and asking them to join you in making a donation.
