Follow Your Dreams!

My father is a semi-retired architect. In most of his career as an architect, his dream was to build organic houses that can breathe and don't harm the environment. He was 100% dedicated to it. He used to take me and my sister to all of his construction sites and he would tell us how important his work was.  Back then, people were not aware of the environment like they are today. So I don't think it was an easy thing for my father to continue what he was doing and pursue his dreams. But he seemed very proud of what he was doing. He always had the courage to follow his dreams and I loved to listen to his dreams.

I think it's inspiring and fun to listen to other people's dreams. Also, one of the greatest gifts we can give to the world is to listen to other people's dreams and watch and allow them to happen without judgements, mocking, or criticizing. And you want to treat your dreams the exact same way.

Every single one of us have dreams. Dreams can be small - 'I want to stay in my chair pose one breath longer today' or 'I want to listen to my child's stories at the dinner table tonight'. Dreams can be big - 'I want to run a full marathon this year' or 'I want to own my own company someday' or 'I want to move by the beach someday.'

What is your dream?

This spring, one of my dreams came true - owning my own studio space by my house. I've been visualizing it, dreaming it for a long time and it's finally happening. The renovation is now done with the help of my family and friends. (I felt like I lived between Home Depot and my new studio for the last 3 weeks though). It's a small space but a perfect place where we can heal our bodies, minds and souls and grow into something beautiful.

Classes, Workshops, and Testimonials!

Happy Spring (well, it doesn't look like spring today)! I hope you're enjoying warmer and longer days. I know that many of us start to enjoy outside activities around this time of year, but you still don't want to miss yoga practice! I cannot tell you how important and crucial my yoga practice was when I was doing lots of Tae Kwon Do practice. The practice saved me not only from injuries, but helped me to stay focused on what I was doing, and also helped me to find a deeper connection to my own body.

So, I'd like to invite you to my monthly 'Meditation and Therapeutic Yoga' class at my new studio. The first class will be on Friday, April 15th @ 4:15-5:30 PM or 6 - 7:15 PM. People are showing more and more interest in meditation practice but they say they don't know how. I'll take some time to teach an introduction to meditation practice and asana (movements). This will not be an overwhelming class. It will be great for your body, mind, and heart. The rate is $15 and I will only take 5 students max for each class. Please let me know if you're interested.

Also, there are a few openings in my Shoulder Freedom workshop on Saturday, April 30th. We're going deeper into the shoulders. We will understand the functions of the shoulder girdles and how they impact the movement of the arms and hands. Also we will learn why injuries happen and how to make the shoulder girdles strong and mobile through
therapeutic yoga poses. The program is great for anyone who may have/had injuries in the shoulders. It is also beneficial for tennis players, swimmers, and etc. The good news is when the shoulders function well, you can move freely and easily through your daily life! Join me for a great weekend! There will be 2 sessions. One at 10-12:15pm, and one from 2-4:15pm. $65 includes nutritional snacks and drinks. To sign up, please visit my website: http://www.shigekoyoga.com/workshops/ or contact me: shigeko@shigekoyoga.com or 720-256-8471.

Lastly. I have a huge favor to ask you. Could you please write a testimonial for my website if it resonated with you? It could be  just one sentence or a small paragraph, whatever you prefer. I would appreciate it so much if you could share your experience of working with me. Please send your testimony to shigeko@shigekoyoga.com.

Once again, Happy Spring and I'll see you on the mat!
