The Aistear Síolta Practice Guide has been developed by the NCCA. It is a guide that will support childcare providers implement Aistear and Síolta together to improve the quality of the curriculum in their service in order to better support children's learning and development. This is the tool that will be used by the Better Start, Early Year Specialists to support childcare provider who are participating in the National  Early Years Quality Development Service.

Minister for Education and Skills launches public consultation on early years education

The Minister is inviting submissions from all interested parties, including childcare practitioners, students, parents, education and training providers, employers in the sector, and anyone else with an interest in this area.

KCCC would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest staff member. Michael Quirke joins the KCCC team as our new Administration Officer. 

New Website

Kildare County Childcare Committee has a shiny new website. It contains up-to-date news in the Early Years Sector, all information pertaining to the three Government Funded Programmes, a Quality Section, a Business Development section that will soon feature a vast range of supports to running and setting up a quality childcare services. A resources section, with resources to download and pick up from the KCCC office. The site alrady up and running and can be accessed by clicking the following link
National "Open Space" Conference to inform the Future Development of Childhood Services
The BCCN will hold its first event as the National Childhood Network on the 20th and 21st March to facilitate discussion and dialogue between a range of groups to inform the future development of Childhood services.

Better Start: National Early Years Quality Development 

Better Start is a national initiative established by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs to bring an integrated national approach to supporting quality in Early Years Education and Care (ECEC) for children from birth to 6 years in Ireland. The new initiative will also provide a specialist on site mentoring service, the Better Start Quality Development Service.
In the first year, priority will be given to larger, full day care services catering for 40+ children aged from birth to 6 years. Over time, the service will be made available to all ECEC providers who wish to avail of it.

The "Check it Fits" Roadshow is coming to Kildare

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has introduced a new, free service in response to a frightening statistic that shows that as many as 3 out of 4 child car seats are incorrectly fitted which can result in serious injury or worse, a fatality in the event of a collision.

Mindfulness in the Playroom Workshop

This one day workshop will explore the use of mindfulness with children and youth in all settings. Practitioners will learn simple tools to promote awareness, wellbeing and self-support.  An overview of the elements of a mindful attitude, and how it can benefit our clients and our own self-care will be covered. Additionally the workshop offers practical activities for children and youth who experience or have experienced stress or trauma, or have issues with self-regulation such as with ADHD, ADD and DCD.
