May Speaker: Elizabeth Higgins

Elizabeth Higgins will speak to us about Positioning and Promoting yourself as an Artist. “Whether it’s to your friends and family, or a broader audience, I will talk about how I identified and branded my unique voice and style, and ways that I was able to put my art “out there” and feel comfortable doing so. It’s ok to start small, and then build and grow your art identity as you and your art evolves. I will mention photos, social media like Instagram and Facebook, local show opportunities, a website, a strong toolbox of ready-to-go items such as an artists bio, statement, list of shows or awards, and images of your work. I can go into greater detail about RedBubble and getting prints made, if there is interest.”

In June we have our elections for the upcoming year.  Office terms start in September.  If ANYONE wishes to volunteer for any of the elected offices (President, Vice-President, or Secretary) , please let me know.  If you wish to volunteer for the other positions, let me know. Here is our current list;

President: Debi Friedlander; Vice president: Karen Kreamer (continuing), Treasurer: Kim Cambell (continuing), Secretary: Patricia Fordney, Newsletter Editor: Caylee VanShenck, Liaison with Arts Center: Dominique Bachlet. Peggy Sharrow will serve as Past President and help new people enjoy their new positions.  Please remember, we run and exist solely on volunteer power.

Congratulations to those brave soles who brought their three works to the April meeting and are now Exhibiting Members: Susan Winder, Marilyn Merrill, John Subert, Caylee Van Schenck, Diane Kinman and Patricia Blair Fordney. Thanks to all of you for submitting your work. Now you can signup and show your work in our Hanging Around Town venues. If you need help or advice doing this call on Phil Coleman, our Exhibits Chair, Peggy Sharrow or any other Exhibiting Member.

Website Tip
We are now completely converted over to new domain name from  Your browser is likely still "remembering" the .org version when you start typing the name which means extra typing. If you'd like to get that to go away so it will quickfill the .net version, when you start typing it in and the .org name is highlighted in the dropdown list that displays, hit Shift/Delete and it will remove it from the list.  Please feel free to contact Rani Primmer at if you have any questions or concerns or are running into any issues with the new website.

I hope you are getting ready for the 58th annual, August 3rd, 2019 Clothesline Sale!

Good news for all of you who want to participate!  Procedures will be very much the same as in recent years.

There will, however, be some changes in communications.  These will help CAG artists and others to more easily access information. As of this writing, the web site is still available with information from 2018. In the next month or so, that information will be accessed through the CAG website.

In May, the Board will be deciding whether to prepare posters for the 2019 sale, or just post cards to be distributed by CAG and Clothesline Sale artists, or both posters and post cards.  We may also make the 2019 image available for people to share through social media.  If you have input for the Board, you may send it to me by April 30th.

If you are submitting an image to be considered, please send that to me by April 30th.

As has been done in previous years, there will be a Clothesline Sale meeting July 1. The registration form will be available through the web site. Registrations are not to be turned in before July 1.

Requests for artists’ location placements at the sale will be prioritized according to participation in CAG activities, and then, first-come-first-served. Artists’ location placements will be posted via our CAG web site by the third week of July.

And as usual, if you have feedback or questions, please feel free to contact me at

I look forward to hearing from you and working together for another great Clothesline Sale of Art.

Our Art Guild will have a booth at the Corvallis Fall Festival, the weekend of September 28 & 29.  Participants must be juried members of the guild and should display their best work since the Festival is a juried event and we need to uphold their quality requirements.   In addition, for each spot the participant must split the $395 booth fee and sign up for two-2 hour shifts as well as help with set-up and take down.  The Fall Festival Committee is requiring we have at least 4 artists to represent the Corvallis Art Guild.   Please let me know as soon as possible. If you are interested in participating, or if have questions please contact Kristi Hager at 541-908-5641 or email at I need to know by June 1st, 2019.
