SANTA FE – Today, the U.S. Air Force announced its interim decision to relocate two F-16 squadrons from Hill Air Force Base in Utah to Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo. Lt. Governor John Sanchez issued the following statement applauding the relocation:
"I want to applaud the U.S. Air Force for making the decision to relocate these F-16 squadrons to Holloman Air Force Base, one of our nation’s most valuable military assets. This move will create jobs, spur some much needed economic activity, and further solidify New Mexico’s position as a vital player in our nation’s security and defense efforts. I also want to commend and thank the people of Alamogordo and the Alamogordo Committee of 50 for their persistent hard work and dedication to promoting Holloman and the State of New Mexico at the local and national levels. As a member of the New Mexico Military Base Planning Commission, I will continue to partner with our local citizens and advocacy groups to support our military personnel and their families, and help attract new missions to our bases and installations throughout the state."
