The team wishes you a very Merry Christmas and an exciting New Year.  Thank you for being a part of 'The Book Festival' 2016.

 
The festival proved to be a success for exhibitors connecting with other like minded people.  Due to a lack of foot traffic it was sadly lacking in book buying visitors.  However what it did show was a lot of writers, with manuscripts in hand, wanting information on the next step for publishing their writings.  This kept the literary businesses on their toes.

Exhibitor Highlights
Variety of exhibitors, Quality of Books, Selling Books, Networking, Meeting New Readers, Sharing Information, Meeting Like Minded Exhibitors, Giving Information to Writers about becoming an Indie Published Author, Having the Merit of my Books confirmed by others in the Profession.

The Bad News
Too quiet, Not enough visitors, Venue too big, Confusion over author and business stands, Low turnout for workshops, Lack of stand separation, Venue had no foot traffic, Two days was too long, Devonport was better.

The Good News
More Professional Setup, Well Organised, Good Experience for First Time Exhibiting, Plenty of Would-be-authors, Great Comaraderie between Exhibitors, Professional Looking Stands, Enjoyed Newsletters building up to Festival, Loved the Ponies riding past Stands, Good overall picture of the Indie Book Industry in NZ, Great exposure.

Suggestions from Exhibitors

Advertising: Professional Marketing & PR, Advertise in Herald, on TVNZ and radio, Newsletters not every week and able to be read on Apple Macs, Sponsors, Get libraries and Community groups involved, more signage

Venue: CBD, Close to Cafe's, Foot Traffic, Smaller venue in community hubs, Wynyard Quarter and The Cloud

Workshops/Seminars: Better announcements, seminars in exhibitor area

Visitors: Capture visitors doing other things, Make venue part of a journey not the destination, Link with another event, Treasure hunt for children, Big name drawcards, Themed areas.

Internal Setup: Neutral space between authors and businesses, Better flow, Genres grouped together, Background music, Heating, Tea & Coffee provided, Ensure exhibitor spaces are kept tidy and professional, Specialist signage for each exhibitor, Low partitions for everyone to help with the visual effect, Tall partitions for hanging posters.

General: One day only, Lanyards or name tags provided for exhibitors, Change the timing, Not in school holidays, Thank you gift for each person who bought a book from festival organisers.
