AWIR NATIONAL MEETING

A new addition to our annual meeting August 17-20, 2017 at Sonesta Hotel in Hilton Head, SC is the opening session - Immunology Course for CME. Co-Directors, Drs Calabrese and Wright promise the latest in immunologic concepts. Networking, leadership skill enhancement, scientific updates, and personal development are just a few features of this extraordinary meeting. And don't forget to bring along your sunblock, swimsuit and sunglasses for the beach!

LOCAL CHAPTERS

AWIR Local Chapters continue to expand with new chapters in Florida, Texas, and Georgia.

Yoga, munching, networking and relaxing with a cocktail highlighted the Florida local chapter meeting in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Sharing stories and eating geared up the Dallas, TX chapter. Talking, dining and learning about leadership styles enhanced the Atlanta, GA chapter.

WALK TO CURE ARTHRITIS

WALK to CURE ARTHRITIS is a national initiative for AWIR. Local chapters across AWIR will be walking with team members and the Arthritis Foundation during April and May to gain research funds for the CURE.

WOMEN IN RHEUMATOLOGY NEWS

With the mounting challenges in medicine today looking for leadership in rheumatology is imperative. This month’s newsletter is dedicated to women in Leadership.

Women leaders are underrepresented in medicine.  However, companies that have women leaders are more successful. With larger numbers of women in medicine and specifically rheumatology our voices must be heard. Therefore more women leaders are needed. AWIR has embraced this and knows that leadership skills can and will be enhanced with our membership.

Women and men lead differently. Does this difference make it harder for women to lead? Does it keep women from wanting to lead?  Leadership skills can be enhanced at any stage of your career.  Is physician  leadership right for you?  Exploring the following articles concerning women leadership should implore you to learn more and add your skills to leading women and benefit society as a whole.
