Dear Woodside Educational Community,
To continue with our goal to keep our parents and community well informed of school/district business, events and decisions, the following includes the meeting notes from the Woodside School District Board meeting held on Thursday, January 19:
Board of Trustees Meeting Notes
January 19, 2017
The Board heard a report about current enrollment in the preschool and considered a proposal for a rate increase to be implemented in the 2017-18 school year. The program is currently full in both classes. Preschool staff conducted research regarding tuition both historically for our program and in comparison to our competitors. They found that are rates had not been raised in eight years and our daily rates are significantly lower that similar preschool programs. The Board agreed to raise rates a little over 5% for next year.
The Board considered a draft calendar prepared by the Woodside Teacher's Association. The calendar proposed is attached to the agenda. Parent and staff input illustrated the need for more work on the calendar prior to the Board taking action. Staff will work with WTA to craft another calendar that takes the input into consideration and will be put before the Board for approval at the February 7th Board meeting.
The Board considered a draft resolution prepared by San Mateo County Counsel regarding school district policy regarding undocumented students and families. The Board agreed to continue the conversation at the February 7th Board meeting. No action was taken.
Complete School Board meeting minutes are available upon approval by the Board at the next meeting and will be posted the following day on our school website. I encourage all school parents and community members to attend the monthly School Board meetings. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 7th at 3:30 pm in Wildcats.
