Dear Woodside Educational Community,
The Sequoia Union High School District (SUHSD) recently announced that a new 400 student school named TIDE Academy will be built in Menlo Park and is on schedule to open in the fall of 2019. TIDE Academy will be a “school of choice” within the District, and all students within the boundaries of SUHSD (including Woodside) will be eligible to apply. Current sixth graders will be the first ninth grade class in the 2019-2020 school year.
TIDE Academy will be an additional small public high school within SUHSD focusing on Technology, Innovation, Design, and Engineering (TIDE). Located at 150 Jefferson Drive in Menlo Park (between Bayfront Expressway and Highway 101), its first class will contain approximately 100 ninth graders. TIDE Academy will provide a unique educational experience with a focus on Career Technical Education (CTE) in design and engineering. Students will receive a small school and personalized learning experience and, through a partnership with the San Mateo Community College District, will be able to take related college courses on site and earn transferable college credit. Additionally, the school will be partnering with local technology businesses to promote real-world education and career preparation. The school facility will have a design inspired by the campuses of firms in the area, with modern technology and spaces that foster creativity and collaboration.
By early fall, more information will be communicated to current middle school students and their families and community meetings will be scheduled to provide more details about the school. To read the full letter from the SUHSD Superintendent and learn more about TIDE Academy, click HERE.
