  PITCH COMPETITION

Female and Minority Founders
Did you know that less than 2% of $1.1bn venture capital raised in Utah in 2017 went to female-founded companies? This information is shocking, especially given Utah's recognition as one of the leading states for entrepreneurs, a title bestowed by organizations such as Amazon and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

This year the Sorenson Impact Center plans to tackle the issue of underfunded and under-supported female and minority entrepreneurs by providing a much needed and deserved opportunity for 15 individuals at the annual Catalytic Capital Competition stage, one of the annual highlights of our Winter Innovation Summit.

Applications are open now and will close January 10, 2020. We are accepting applications from female and minority entrepreneurs interested in pitching their companies to a group of investors, industry partners, and philanthropists from throughout the world. This event is open to the public. Please see our website for additional details.

  STUDENTS AT THE SUMMIT

The Student Coalition for Social Impact
We are proud to be hosting the second annual Student Coalition for Social Impact (SCSI) at this year’s Summit. In its inaugural year, the SCSI hosted 21 students from Universities across the United States, who came together to develop professional networks, learn how to make a social impact, and create actionable solutions to the college affordability crisis. This year, the Coalition will focus on tackling climate change during a 5-hour "Impact Hack". We were thrilled with the solutions the students developed last year and can’t wait to see what our bright young innovators come up with in 2020. For more information about the program and last years results, check out this Forbes article.
