Talking to the Gods: Votive Plaques from Roman Britain

Archaeological illustrator Craig Williams presents a series of drawings of the Ashwell Hoard, a treasure trove of some 27 gold and silver objects found in a village just outside Cambridge which gives an insight into the religious beliefs of the Roman Britons.
When did the Greeks start to build celestial globes and armillary spheres to visualise their cosmological and astronomical theories and why? Join Professor Gábor Betegh as he explores the the role of 3-D visualisation and geometrical models in making sense of data gathered from observing the heavens.
Join British Museum illustrator Craig Williams to try your hand at archaeological drawing. Learn some of the techniques and skills used by professional archaeological illustrators, using sherds and objects from the Museum of Classical Archaeology's collection.
