A Myopic View of a Garden by
3rd - 30th October 2015
Tim Reichelt is a photographer and biologist. Born in Southport on Queensland’s Gold Coast to parents who loved their garden. He grew up surrounded by beautiful plants and loved the exquisite colours and detail that can be observed in the natural world, especially when you get in close.
"When I was a child, I developed severe short-sightedness. Without my glasses though, the world looked very different. Colours were no problem but, with the lack of focus, detail was lost. They were often simply explosions of disembodied colour. If I wanted to see something clearly, I had to move in very close.
All of these photographs were taken with the lens about twenty centimetres from the subject. The processing has emphasised the colours in a fashion that mimics my experience. In short, these pictures show the world of flowers and plants as I saw them when I removed my glasses.”
His first exhibition “Close Up” will be at the Arts Café, Gold Coast City Gallery, 135 Bundall Rad, Surfers Paradise, Queensland from 3rd to the 30th October.
All of the images are for sale at the café during the exhibition. There are 20 images altogether but only 8 will fit in the café. They are all printed on face mounted acrylic to show off the colour and all are 61cm x 40cm.
