Saverin House - home to the artists of the Gallery in the Corridor, located in the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum.
To The Editor

Eleven Artists from an Art Gallery called "The Gallery in the Corridor", located in the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum are taking their art outside The Village for the first time as a group.

After a visit to "The Gallery in the Corridor" by the Community Relationships Manager of the Currumbin RSL, the Artists were invited to exhibit some of their works for the months of August and September 2016.  The address for the Currumbin RSL is:  165 During Street, Currumbin. Qld. 4223

Attached are photos of some of the works exhibited, but more can be supplied upon request.   The Artists of "The Gallery in the Corridor" also continue their exhibitions in their usual gallery in the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum, 205 Main Street, Beenleigh. Qld.  4207.

"The Gallery in the Corridor" was founded in November 2013 by the members of the Beenleigh District Historical Society, after being approached by Donald James Waters OAM and his art group at the time called "The Y-Isms" for a place to show their works.

"Saverin House", a 120-year-old cottage originally owned by the Saverin Family, early settlers in the area, had been donated to the Historical Village by its previous owners, who had used it as his dental surgery.  This cottage became available to the art group to be used as their art gallery.

The Artists decided to call it "The Gallery in the Corridor" because between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, there seems to be an "art poor' corridor'....

There are 21 Artists currently exhibiting in The Gallery in the Corridor, showcasing a wide and diverse range of styes and techniques.  Artists each have an allotted space to hang their works, which are changed every three months.

The Gallery calls this "Change-over Day" and it is a great way to meet the Artists, discuss their works, and enjoy potential sales.  It is a fun time, as live music and refreshments are provided for added enjoyment, and is very family friendly.

The next exhibition changeover event is scheduled for 28th August 2016 and will be open from 9.30am until 4.00pm. at The Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum.

On changeover day, the village is transformed into a special event with art, live music and refreshments available for all, and lots of fun events for children and adults alike.
