Monthly Round-Up - November
What's Happening in the Sector:
SENScot Pockets & Prospects Programme - running from November 2020 until February 2021 - it will focus on the emergency mental health and wellbeing needs, as a result of Covid, within communitites. It's also a wonderful opportunity to work with and build new relationships with other social enterprises. Click here for more information or contact Mary at SENscot.
Business Gateway West Lothian - they have a host of webinars coming up in the next few months - all free to attend! Have a look at the list and if you feel any would be of benefit, get yourself signed up.
Community & Third Sector Support Fund - Adapt & Thrive - please, if you haven't already, apply for this support programme. Uptake for West Lothian is really low - we aren't sure why but we want that to change. You will get support from Community Enterprise once you submit your application so take advantage of this!! More info here.
VSGWL - £9k RRR Small Grants Fund - grants of between £500 and £1,000 are available, following these priorities: Living with poor, interrupted or impaired access to food, shelter and necessary amenities e.g sanitation and heat. Closing date is the 4th December 2020. Click here for guidance and here for an application form.
Firstport - Launch Me Programme - they are looking for ambitious social enterprises and community groups to join their latest Launch Me cohort and scale their impact! To find out more information, visit their website.
Beechbrae - Branching Out for Women Programme - from January 2021, Beechbrae will be running a new branching out group for women, run by women. It is specifically for survivors - historic or recent. Access to the programme is via a referral form, which can be obtained from me or direct from Ally and needs to come from an organisation or person that knows the participant. More info about the programme in general, can be found here. If you would like any more information, contact Ally.
WL Third Sector Mental Health Collaborative Group - the next meeting for this is on 1st December. If you are unaware of the group, here is some background information. If you haven't yet connected with the group and feel like you could bring something to the table or are just interested in getting involved, get in touch with Diane and she will be happy to help.
Just Enterprise - I attended a webinar this week, held by SENscot, called "Support for Social Enterprise in Scotland" - it gave an overview of the support offered by Just Enterprise. I found the information very helpful and I learnt about things I didn't realise JE covered. It was suggested that localised webinars might be a good idea so, would this be something you would be interested in and attend, if we organised for JE to hold a webinar for West Lothian? If so, could you send me an email confirming this and we can then get something in the diary.
Just a wee reminder! - All previous Three Things for Thursday and the Monthly Round-Up are uploaded to our website, so if you feel you missed anything, you can find them all here.
Community Action Blackburn -
Community Action Blackburn (CAB) are a community owned and led charity working to engage, assist and support the community of Blackburn to address concerns and make positive change in their area. They have developed their role as a community anchor organisation during Covid-19. They received Supporting Communities funding for a weekly food & dignity box project, a digital inclusion project, community newsletter and a range of activity kits to support children, mental health & wellbeing and vegetable growing. Recently they were delighted to be approached by a resident looking for their support to explore a craft-based therapeutic skill-share social enterprise.
Contact Lisa Drinnen for more information or visit their Facebook page.
See you next month!
