International School of the Turks and Caicos Islands
What a wonderful month!

We have all been busy this month, children and teachers working very hard together and I am delighted to see the high standard of work our children are achieving as I walk around the school.

Most of our classes have been extending their learning beyond the school grounds during the course of the month and have been enjoying some fabulous Field Trips.  I was lucky enough to be able to attend one; the Grade 5 & 6 trip to the Provo site of the National Museum.  What an interesting afternoon!

CONSULTANT VISITS - As part of our work in moving the school forward, we have employed the services of 2 different Educational Consultants.  During the last month, Yolande Robinson came to work with us and part of her work involved undertaking lesson observations with me.  I am very proud to tell you that all of our teachers, without exception, were identified as being skilled and talented classroom practitioners!  We really do have a very talented staff body.

We enjoyed a wonderful Valentines Movie and Dinner Dance.  Everyone worked hard to make sure our children had a great deal of fun!  One area we had noted however was how dark the school grounds are in the evening and as a result of this we have requested that FORTIS provide us with additional lighting.  They have agreed to this.

The highlight of the month however must be Jenna Hatmin's performance in the National Primary SPELLING BEE.  She fought off stiff competition and brought home not one, not two, but 5 trophies.  Well done Jenna, we are so very proud of you!

I hope you enjoy the newsletter and keep checking our weekly blogs!

Best wishes, Katie Hinks, Principal

A few moments of your time...

LIBRARY - We always need help adding new books to the system and covering them in plastic. Others ways you can help include reading to the children or listening to them read weekly. Please contact Ms. Jessica to volunteer a little time.

Importance of Learning Centres

Centers are an integral part of any well-structured classroom that facilitates primary school students ages 2 to 8.

Take a look at our Grade 1 and you will see a structured yet stimulating room that the children really engage with.

Sensory Fun in Preschool

Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates your young child’s senses: touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing.

Sensory activities and sensory tables facilitate exploration and encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. This helps children develop linguistically, socially, physically ....the list goes on....
