The PO Box Collective is a creative collective & intergenerational social practice center dedicated to building Rogers Park community through radical art making & programming. Join us this Sunday as part of the #WeGrieveTogether Week of Mourning

As part of the National Week of Mourning for victims of COVID-19 (October 4th to 11th) the PO Box Collective is hosting 2 special events this Sunday to remember those who have died of Covid-19 and share in our grief and healing as a community.

Community Grief Circle

This will be a socially distanced but intimate circle held as a space to honor all our losses and pain, to connect with each other, and to deepen our commitment to collective survival in the face of impending catastrophes.

When: Sunday, 10/11, 3:00pm -- please do not arrive late
Where: Schreiber Park (1552 W Schreiber Ave, Chicago, IL 60626)

Candle Lighting for Our 60626 Neighbors

We plan to light 121 candles to represent the 121 neighbors we have lost to Covid-19 this year in 60626. We invite neighbors to join us to light candles and share silence, and perhaps memories or stories of loved ones or neighbors who have passed.

(Neighbors who would like to join us in person are asked to wear masks and socially distance. We will have masks and hand sanitizer on site.)

When: Sunday, 10/11, 6:15-7:15pm

Neighbors who cannot join us are invited to watch the event page on facebook for a live stream.

Neighborhood Memorial for Victims of Police Violence -- Ongoing

Just a little reminder that the PO Box Collective has also been building a memorial to people killed by the police all across the country under the El tracks on Farwell for a few months now. We plan to continue adding to it and holding space to gather and reflect every Sunday from 11am-1pm. Come see how it has grown!

The PO Box Collective has always been dedicated to mutual support and radical hospitality. The need for community and connection seems greater now than ever before. All our programming is FREE including our weekly food distribution. Our cash donations have largely come to a halt with the closing of the physical space, but we must continue to pay our full rent.
