In the era of crisis and pandemic, SAAHAS for Cause continues to support the community to cope with these global stressors. We have supported our seniors in the community to battle their isolation and loneliness. We have also been helping place victims of partner violence in shelters and coaching them through the process of separation in collaboration with legal experts in our community. 

OLDER ADULT WELLNESS - MAUJ MASTI SEHAT

June 5th- Rahul Simlote, an IT professional, presented a boot camp on how to secure valuable data in this digital world.  His session was very informative with Q&A session and tips about keeping data, personal information, sensitive documents safe and protected online.

June 12th- Geeta Sikand, Director of Nutrition: UC Irvine Preventive Cardiology Program joined us for a session on the topic “Nutrition and Immune Health in the era of COVID-19”. We learned that how nutrition affects our immune system and how we can strengthen it with proper nutrition. 

June 19th- Rajat “Rocky” Batta, founder of RRB Dance company, collaborated with SAAHAS For Cause to do a Bollywood dance session for our Older adults. Our jubilant participants rocked the floor on some fun peppy bollywood numbers, leaving them in high spirits.

June 26th- Gardening can have a healing effect in many ways, including lowering stress, creating a sense of fulfillment and generally promoting peace of mind. Our three amazing presenters Sadhna Bendrey, Swapna Kambli and Chhavi Chawla shared their gardening knowledge and skills. 
YOUTH CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights of Youth Chapter, June:

  • Research-Psychologists from Phoenix and Cleveland started coaching youth to design a research study on the the topic "COVID-19 and related stress".

  • Social Justice- Motivating factor to start this forum was BLM movement. This forum was started to brainstorm about history of minority and importance of empowering youth to become a good ally.

  • We welcome 2 new interns on board with SAAHAS For Cause family: Sana Agarwal (Bangalore International School) and Aayush Jain (Virginia Tech). 

YOUTH CHAPTER: TECH CLASSES 

This project bridges the gap between older adults and youth through technology classes. Our mission is to educate, empower and enhance the South Asian Community’s health by reducing stress and isolation.


Saturday, June 13th – SAAHAS Youth was excited to bring back the tech class for older adults on the topic ‘How to set up Facebook account and like a page.



Saturday, June 27th – Youth brought this exciting, fun and interactive online Bingo game. We had an enthusiastic participation of 35 members who played and enjoyed online bingo.

YOUTH CHAPTER: SOCIAL JUSTICE & RESEARCH



High school seniors from Orange County and LA County came together in effort to educate, learn and spread awareness among the community on social justice topics such as “Black Lives Matter”.

COMMUNITY HEALTH & OUTREACH 



June saw a very significant accomplishment through collaboration with various organizations like:
United Sikhs, GOPIO, South Asian Network and Lions Club Fullerton. Together we donated groceries, fresh produce, milk and care kit packages to our community members in need.

Community Partnership: We partnered with Asian American Advancing Justice to help enhance and educate our community on the importance of being counted in the Census 2020
WOMEN'S WELLNESS

Along with services provided like: Individual therapy, Case Management and Support group, we introduced 2 new Support Groups and internship program.
