CEO of Xendit, Moses Lo, shares insights about his startup journey in building a unicorn

On December 2nd, Xendit's CEO Moses Lo made an appearance at SkyDeck to attend a fireside chat with SkyDeck Fund Principal, Brian Bordley. As an Australian, Moses attended UC Berkeley Haas where he got his MBA in 2015 before launching Xendit and going through the SkyDeck accelerator. In 2016, Lo was named Forbes 30 under 30 for Asia : Finance and Venture Capital. It was earlier this year that Xendit became a unicorn after receiving $150M in Series C funding. SkyDeck boasts one of the largest intern fairs on a college campus 

This Friday, UC Berkeley's largest intern fair will take place! For the past three years, SkyDeck has hosted an intern fair every semester with nearly 90 startups recruiting at each one. Friday's intern fair has 600 students registered to attend. Don't miss your chance to join SkyDeck's Intern Fair on December 10th from 12pm-3pm PST. Daikin announces winner the Daikin Innovation Pitch Challenge

Congratulations to Hacarus AI, the winner of Daikin Innovation Pitch Prize in the Berkeley SkyDeck Daikin Innovation Pitch Challenge 2021!  Out of more than 175 total startup applications and 10 Finalists, Hacarus AI was chosen by the SkyDeck selection committee and Daikin champions based on their relevance across the focus areas of IAQ, smart home/smart building, and commercial HVAC solutions as well as their potential to align with the Challenge theme of remote/hybrid working styles. SkyDeck and Daikin wish to thank everyone who participated and helped make this contest a success! Stay tuned for the next Challenge as we plan for the next one in 2022.

Dispatch Goods
Dispatch Goods (Batch 10 Cohort) has successfully raised an additional $3.7M in seed funding, which will allow additional geographical expansion, more restaurant partnerships and exploring new packaging opportunities. Learn more in their recent Techcrunch feature.

Sundial Foods
Sundial Foods, a plant-based meats company, has raised a $4M seed round, allowing the company to expand its team and commence production for its U.S. launch at the Rutgers Food Innovation Center in Bridgeton, New Jersey. Sundial expects its chicken wings to be available in U.S. restaurants in the Spring of 2022.

Spext
Spext (Batch 9 Cohort), has just closed an oversubscribed $1.3M round, allowing them to build out their product more effectively, such as the automated editing currently enjoyed by beta users

Uitrial
Uitrial (Batch 13 IPP), a UI/UX and product testing self-serve, raised $450K in a Pre-Seed round led by tech entrepreneur Dmitry Morozov and StarTech VC. Based in Cyprus, and founded in 2020, Uitrial automates an otherwise complex and arduous process of obtaining vital qualitative insights from target audiences, enabling product teams to build their products confidently.

Wing Assistant (Batch 10 Cohort) has just launched their new Social Media software product to capitalize on the fast-growing demand for social media remote assistance, and was recently the number 5 Product Of The Day on ProductHunt!

 

Flourish FI
Flourish FI was selected as one of the winners of the Inclusive Fintech 50 (IF50) competition for 2021. The award is organized by the Center for Financial Inclusion (CFI) and is sponsored by Visa, MetLife Foundation, and Jersey Overseas Aid & Comic Relief, with support from Accion and IFC. This year, the focus of the competition was on Fintechs that are leading the way by helping low-income customers and micro enterprises (MSMEs) manage through the COVID-19 pandemic.
