Pokemon Go Is Driving Insane Amounts of Sales at Small, Local Businesses. Here's How It Works

Since it launched just over a week ago, Pokemon Go has taken Cambridge, and the world, by storm. According to Inc.com, ", this augmented reality mobile exploration game has been installed on twice as many phones as Tinder, it has double the engagement of Snapchat, and it is eclipsing Twitter in its percentage of daily active users." As Pokemon Go encourages users to get out and explore their area, many small local businesses have come up with smart ways to capitalize on the increased foot traffic, and you can too! Read more > >

Important info about upcoming Lighting and Polystyrene Ordinances

Often people think of summer as a time when things slow down a little and people take a little break. This is not the case this summer with rules and regulations either being enacted or proposed that may affect businesses in Cambridge.

The Polystyrene Ban was passed last fall by the Cambridge City Council and goes into effect on October 20, 2016. Polystyrene is a type of plastic and includes both expanded polystyrene, commonly known as Styrofoam, and rigid polystyrene, or all other #6 plastics. This includes but is not limited to single-use disposable plates, cups, bowls, trays and hinged/lidded containers, straws, cup lids, or utensils. Read More > >

Changes to the 2017 Directory

This will be our annual directory's 11th year and we are planning some exciting changes! We have adjusted our layout design to be cleaner and greener than ever before. By switching to a two column layout our book will be able to contain our growing membership in fewer pages, increasing the directories usefulness as a pocket reference as well as making it easier for our members to store and distribute.

This is also an important step in increasing the sustainability of our directory. With the cost of print rising every year, we work hard to find a way to give our members the directory reach they want while still keeping our membership fees as affordable as possible. Due to printing constraints, our print directory will no longer include taglines. But don't worry, you are still welcome to include them in your online listing.
