CHSCB Business Plan
City and Hackney Safeguarding Children Board has released its Business Plan for 2017-19. This short document sets out the actions the Board will take to realise its vision that “Children and young people in the City of London and Hackney are seen, heard and helped...effectively safeguarded, properly supported and their lives improved by everyone working together.”

"Our Reviews, Our Choice"
Hackney Children and Young People’s Service (CYPS) have developed a new, more engaging and child-focused approach to Looked After Reviews that can best capture the child’s views and experiences and ensure it is a process they enjoy, wish to take part in and are at the centre of.

A booklet has been produced which aims to ensure that everybody involved in the review process for Looked After Children (LAC) understands the new approach and how they can contribute to it.
Find the booklet on the CHSCB PROTOCOLS, GUIDANCE AND PROCEDURES webpage.

'Understanding young minds' - free online self-harm course
Unfortunately more children are resorting to self-harm as a response to the pressures of growing up. With 60% of parents reporting they feel uncomfortable discussing self-harm with their children, thousands of children could be suffering in silence.

To help, Virtual College have launched a free online course that provides information on how to sensitively talk to children about self-harm and tactics for increasing mental resilience. Access the course on the CHSCB

e-LEARNING webpage.

Healthy Relationships Poster
Tender has been commissioned by Hackney Borough Council to support young people in developing positive, healthy attitudes towards relationships. A poster (designed by young people living in Hackney) has been created to help young people identify forms of domestic abuse and sign post them to appropriate support. Download the poster
