CHSCB Annual Safeguarding Conference

'Safeguarding through the lens of Social Media'

The CHSCB 2016 safeguarding conference will be held at Stoke Newington Town Hall on 12th May 2016 (09:30-16:00). Inter-professional communication and decision making
Problems with inter-professional communication and its impact upon decision making is a common theme in serious case reviews (SCRs).  The NSPCC and The Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) have published their review of 38 SCRs, published between May 2014 and April 2015, and identified 44 different practice issues relating to how professionals in different agencies communicate and make decisions.  14 practice briefings look at these in more detail and are a must read.  Find them

CSE - Learning from audits
In November 2015, Hackney agencies engaged in a pilot Joint Targeted Area Inspection focusing on CSE, missing children and the FAST.  Six cases with multi-agency involvement were audited by the partnership as part of this process and a summary of the key themes and findings can be found
CSE - Pocket Guide for Health Professionals
NHS England has produced a pocket guide which will be distributed across health organisations. The guide contains signs and indicators, risk factors, myth busting and what to do if you suspect a child or young person is at risk.  Read the electronic version on our CSE webpage
External Learning - Overstaying Families
In February 2016, the SCR sub-group reviewed the case of Child S, a SCR published by Greenwich LSCB. The family had briefly received services in Hackney and the partnership looked at key findings and learning which could be applied in the local context.
