City of London & Hackney
CHSCB rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted
The City and Hackney Safeguarding Children Board has received the first 'Outstanding' judgements in the country for its work across both the City of London and the London Borough of Hackney.
Eleanor Schooling, Ofsted's national director for social care, said, "It is really pleasing to see our first outstanding judgment for an LSCB. This shows that it can be done and I would like to congratulate all those who have worked so hard in City of London and Hackney to achieve this."
For the Local Authorities, The City of London's overall "Good" rating also included an "Outstanding" rating for leadership, management and governance; with Ofsted commenting:  "Determined and inspiring leaders within the City of London take a detailed and ambitious approach to continuous improvement."
Hackney's overall "Good" rating included an "Outstanding" rating for care leaver services.  Ofsted said: "The local authority has high aspirations for its children looked after and care leavers and their education, training and employment outcomes are very good."

East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) rated as 'Outstanding' by CQC
ELFT have been rated as 'Outstanding' in a inspection by the Care Quality Commission. The inspection focused on five key questions: Are services safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led? The inspection in June visited over 80 wards, teams and clinics, spoke with over 300 patients and 700 members of staff and attended over 60 hand-over and multi-disciplinary meetings.

Hackney Youth Justice Service noted as 'Performing Well' by HMProbation

Hackney Youth Justice Service was found to be performing well in most areas of practice by HMI Probation. The inspection took place over three days and reviewed 20 cases of recent offending by children and young people and how they were then supervised. The report noted that 'insightful and committed case managers were working hard to engage, children, young people and their parents/carers'

Modern Slavery - Protocols

Local guidance on modern slavery has been produced for staff working with children and adults.  The guidance includes definitions and indicators of modern slavery, key legislation and provides guidance on what to do if you are concerned about a child or an adult.

Updated Statutory Guidance for Schools and Colleges
'Keeping children safe in education' has been updated as of September 2016 to include changes to information for all staff and the management of safeguarding.

Statutory notifications of FGM

Ofsted have confirmed that Local authorities are required to send a Serious Incident Notification where a child is known to have suffered FGM in England, or if a child who is normally resident in England is known to have been taken out of the country to have FGM performed on them and it took place.
