Take action to protect your trees from spongy/LDD moth. Until early May, make sure to remove egg masses. From early May through mid-July, install burlap traps and remove caterpillars by hand daily. Free burlap is available at the City's Operations Centre during regular business hours. 

Did you know that in Canada it's estimated that the average person throws away 81 pounds of clothing and other textiles each year? The best way to limit the environmental impacts of clothing and other textiles is to make sustainable choices. As you're cleaning out your closet this spring, don't forget you can donate unwanted clothing and fabric items through the textile recycling bins located at Elgin Mills Community Environmental Centre (1124 Elgin Mills Road East).

Starting the week of April 12 in the Yellow Zones and April 19 in the Blue Zones, yard waste will be collected every other week on your regular garbage collection day. Yard waste includes leaves, pine cones, fallen fruit, trees, shrub trimmings and clean straw.
