Thousands complete injury on duty survey

So far more than 7000 officers and staff have taken part in our online survey looking at the support available after an injury on duty. Responses will help us to shape the support we provide to the police family over the years ahead.

The survey, part of a wider piece of work we are funding, has been available on many force intranet sites with others to follow next month. However, to capture the widest possible views (including from those officers who are currently off sick) the survey is also available via our website.

So if you are a currently serving police officer, member of police staff, PSCO or special constable AND you haven't yet completed the survey you can do so by clicking below. Retired officers - a special survey will be available for you to complete in the New Year and we will let you know as soon as that's available.

Lancashire Police Family Weekend

We were delighted to be chosen as the official charity for the Lancashire Police Family Weekend this autumn. The weather was kind to the thousands of people who visited Force HQ in Preston to see what goes on 'behind the badge'. As well as learning the secrets of crime scene investigation and how police dogs are trained, visitors gave generously to support our work. Our collection buckets were straining under the weight of donations totalling almost £4000.

Thank you to everyone who donated; your support will help families in need up and down the country. Our congratulations go to Niamh from Lower Darwen who won our prize draw and who very kindly promised to split the prize of a £50 Amazon voucher with her sister; a sentiment in keeping with a family weekend.

If your force has an event coming up next year that we could get involved in, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us using fundraising@pdtrust.org

And finally: Sending you our best wishes this Christmas

On behalf of all the families we have helped this year we would like to thank you for your continued support. Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, we wish you good health and happiness, and hopefully some time off to spend with your loved ones.

This time of year can be difficult for those of us who have lost someone - we're sure families like the Philips' in Merseyside will be as much in your thoughts as they will be in ours - but the prospect of a new year  (and perhaps new beginnings) can be something positive to look forward to.

We're certainly feeling positive for 2016, not least of all because we will celebrate our 50th anniversary! Keep an eye on our website to find out how you can get involved. In the meantime, perhaps you could make a New Year's resolution (or two) on our behalf?
