The REAL Story

It would be easy to see the headline in the Village News last week and get caught up in the excitement of our newly minted sports program.  But if you look closer, you might notice that the article was written and photographed by BHS student Elizabeth Snyder.  This reflects not only our hope to build a school around student voice and choice, but to partner with local businesses that are equally invested in developing leadership and passion in our students. While Elizabeth brought her own talent to the table, it was the opportunity to share her talent that allows her to continue to grow.  As principal, I see this first article about our sports program as a tremendous sign and look forward to holding ourselves to the same standard as the Village News in finding opportunities to showcase the work of our high school students.

The BHS volleyball team is steadily improving each game as they sport the new uniform.  Come cheer them on at our FIRST HOME GAME ever at Pala Fitness Center October 6th at 3:30 PM.
Students wishing to play soccer should insure that their GPA is at least at 2.0 with no Fs or Incomplete grades to be eligible for CIF competition in the winter.  Please see Ms. Stock (girls) and Coach Hendy (boys) for any questions.
GEOLIT (9th grade)

From Ms. Calderon and Mr. VanHoosear

Our presentations for The Geography of Me were a great success last Friday. The two genealogical societies we worked with were thrilled to see the end result and have extended an invitation to all of our students:

The North San Diego County Genealogical Society, who worked with period 2/3 has invited students to present at their monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 27th from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. in Carlsbad. It would be great to have some of our 2/3 students participate. As the date approaches, we will be coordinating carpooling for students who would like to participate.

The Temecula Valley Genealogical Society, who worked with period 6/7, has invited students from that class to present at their Open House on October 12th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Temecula City Hall.

Please see the flyers included for information on these two events

Also, a special thank you to Larissa Anderson for volunteering to take pictures of the final presentation
WORLD STUDIES (10th grade)

From Mr. Costa

The 10th grade students of Mr. Costa's World Studies class are looking forward to presenting their research findings as they complete study of the French Revolution. Please join the 10th grade students this Friday from 4-5PM in the BHS Quad for our Unité French Revolution Community Event. All are invited to attend!

Next week, World Studies students will begin their study of the Industrial Revolution and the novel of Frankenstein as they begin their Humans Need Not Apply project, which will run through the first week of November.
