New VOCEDplus Pod Network Pods and Podlets

Our VOCEDplus Pod Network is an online resource aimed at providing easy access to quality, theme-based research and other related information, including NCVER's research on the topic, forthcoming events, new publications, and links to VOCEDplus searches on topical or key issues. These are presented on pages called 'Pods'. More specific topics within these themes are presented within smaller Pods called 'Podlets'.

In May and June, the VOCEDplus Pod Network was expanded with the addition of the following new Pods and Podlets:

In July the Equity Pod and Students Podlet will be released.

To find out when these and other new Pods and Podlets become available, follow @VOCEDplus on Twitter.

NCVER No Frills 2016 Conference - VOCEDplus pre-conference workshop

The extent and complexity of research, policy, and practice in the vocational education and training (VET) sector continues to grow. The good news is VOCEDplus can help you manage this flow and stay in tune with issues and changes in the sector in Australia and around the world.

'VOCEDplus: helping you understand the VET sector' is a hands-on workshop. It will feature resources that can help do this, including the newly released VOCEDplus Pod Network, 'Focus on' pages and History of VET Timeline, along with well-used favourites like the Glossary of VET and Special Collections. The workshop will focus on how to get the best from these along with a 'refresher' on accessing and using VOCEDplus to discover current and past research.

The development of the new VOCEDplus Pod Network will be the subject of the conference presentation entitled 'Evolving the VET researcher's information space'.

The 25th National VET Research Conference 'No Frills' is on 4 - 6 July at CQUniversity in Rockhampton. For more information and to register visit the NCVER Portal.

Have you used the VOCEDplus Statistical resources page?

Our Statistical resources page provides quick access to NCVER's VET statistics, both the current and archived releases. It also includes links to key international statistical resources and organisations.

We have given this page a new, more user friendly look. Check it out and let us know what you think

Pathways poll results

Our current Focus on… Parity of esteem page discusses the issue of the lack of parity of esteem between VET and higher education where there is a prevailing opinion of VET being a second-class educational pathway. With this in mind, our latest VOCEDplus poll asked for your thoughts on which pathway you would encourage your child to pursue after secondary schooling.

Of the 90 poll participants, the majority (53 per cent) selected 'University studies'. In comparison, 'Apprenticeship or traineeship' was selected by 20 per cent and 14 per cent chose 'Other vocational qualifications'. For the full results, visit the poll results page.
