Enhancing the Mind-Body Connection

"Yoga" means to tie or link. Through breath work and intentional awareness of one's body, we can use yoga to tap into our innate abilities to heal and thrive. Doctors Dan Siegle, Pat Ogden, and Peter Levine (foremost researchers in the areas of trauma recovery and body psychotherapy) endorse yoga practices as an integral part of treatment.  Our bodies have a memory all of their own and intellectual or cognitive stress management techniques don't address the physical impact of stress. Yoga teaches us to reconnect to our bodies and move forward into the world with openness. It builds confidence, self acceptance, patience, tolerance, strength, all which are essential to navigating through the stresses of current life situations and resolving the stresses from our past that we carry with us.

Mind Body Health Associates has added yoga as an additional enrichment to treatment. Michele Minehart (RYT 200) will begin offering private hour-long yoga sessions at our facility. Talk to your therapist about how adding a yoga practice can benefit your overall health of both mind and body or call the office to schedule your individualized yoga session.

Michele was drawn to the practice of yoga over 5 years ago by the mind-body connection. She trained in Troy, Ohio in a vinyasa-style practice and became certified by Yoga Alliance as RYT200. Matching breath to movement, she teaches gentle and moderate paced practices to fit students' needs.
Michele also assists MBHA with marketing and community building work and you may find her behind the administrative desk, as well. 
Michele earned her BS in Journalism/PR from Ohio University and her Masters of Divinity from Ashland Theological Seminary. 

Moving Meditation


You can take your mindfulness work with you and it requires no equipment, membership or special training - only to be a willing participant in the moment. 
For some people, running is moving meditation. It is a way to connect your mind and the breath while still noticing and engaging the movement of your body. Here are a few more tips to turn your current running exercise into a mindful time of reducing stress. 

It Does the Body Good

Probst Farms, in Bluffton, is the farm from which many MBHA practitioners order their farm-fresh foods. Coming up soon is the deadline to order pastured chickens, whole or by the part. 
The Farm also has space to take a few more shares for their dairy farm. If you're interested in a herdshare of fresh milk from locally raised, hormone-free cows, give our friends a call - tell them Mind Body Health Associates sent you.
