PEDAL FOR PINK, GRITS GUTS & GALS CONCERT WITH THE GOONIES

THANK YOU TO ALL THAT PARTICIPATED WITH PEDAL FOR PINK THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER AND MADE AN APPEARANCE ON THE DANCE FLOOR AT THIS YEAR'S GRITS GUTS & GALS EVENT!

KENTUCKY DERBY CHAMP, RICH STRIKE PROUDLY WEARS TOUGH ENOUGH TO WEAR PINK
after his owner attends the 2022 Songwriter Shuffle in Crested Butte, CO.

"I've supported the Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign charity events in Crested Butte, Colorado for many years. I had an idea for raising more awareness for this important cause, so I reached out," noted Rick Dawson, Owner, and Manager of Rich Strike.

Rick Dawson got in touch with Lacey Wheatley, the Executive Director of Touch Enough to Wear Pink™. Together they created a custom TETWP quarter sheet for Rich Strike, who has worn the blanket over the course of Travers Stakes week. Team members Rick Dawson, trainer, Eric Reed and jockey, Sonny Leon also wore Tough Enough to Wear Pink™ on game day.

DONATION HIGHLIGHT

If you were at Alpenglow this summer, Crested Butte's Monday night summer concert series, you probably saw these kiddos!

Blaze, Cruise, Harper, Kirby, Maryn & Tucker hosted a lemonade stand each Monday this summer to raise money for local nonprofits. Each week, 3 local charities would go head to head at the Claim Jumper Lemonade stand. When a customer pays for their goodies, they got to choose which jar they dropped their payment. The charity with the most cash at the end of the night WINS! Thanks to amazing support from our community & visitors, these kids have donated over $1200 to local charities this summer and they’ll be back in 2023!

With a cancer survivor among this group of kids, a cancer-related charity is in the running most weeks! Thank you Blaze, Cruise, Harper, Kirby, Maryn & Tucker, your hard work has made such a difference in our community. These kids bought the supplies, they chose the charities, they did all the set-up and break down, they cleaned up, they made all their signs, and they bought their pop-up tent, new pitchers, etc.

Program Highlight

When our good friend and TETWP extraordinaire Edie Gibson was diagnosed with breast cancer and endured a double mastectomy, we wanted to honor her by creating this program!

Edie always says “Make It A Great Day” on her voice messages and emails and we believe in sending this positive message to the community.

What does this program do?
Make It A Great Day is available to ALL cancer patients AND their caretakers/family.
The goal of Cattlemen’s Days Tough Enough To Wear Pink's Make it a Great Day program is to take excellent care of our Gunnison Valley locals in every way we can when they are diagnosed with cancer. This includes massages for those going through cancer and their caregivers. Our organization is currently working with Imeva, LLC to help our clients and their dedicated caregivers access massages and provide a brief moment of relief from some of the stressors they are experiencing on their or their loved one's cancer journey.

For more information please contact Eva Paul at 970 648-7103 or Heidi Sherratt at 970 209-6332.

We have many people using the “Make It A Great Day” coupons already and would be available for interviews on how this program is helping them through a challenging time.  Edie Gibson, who is a well-loved member of this community would also be happy to talk to you about her experience with breast cancer and this TETWP program.
