Happy new year to all!
The Global WASH Cluster remains committed to spearheading coordination and advocacy efforts in 2021 for the sector and we would like to take the opportunity to move towards a new way of communicating with all of you, as we shift to a monthly GWC Newsletter
that will not only continue to shed a spotlight on key WASH and Covid-19 information, but also on other crises and key emerging WASH issues.
The objective is to strengthen live knowledge exchange and cross-learning across sectoral coordination platforms
to inform programming, policy, and advocacy for WASH partners at global and field levels. In 2021, CAST will continue to identify and promote cross-learning around WASH in emergencies and coordination. CAST will also shortly review the GWC Website
and strengthen the GWC Covid-19 repository
to increase sharing of best practices in close collaboration with key GWC partners, inter-sectoral initiatives such as the Covid-19 Hygiene Hub, the Hand Hygiene for All initiative, the Hygiene Technical Working Group, and other TWIGs.
Having said that, contributions from the sector and key partners are essential
and will strengthen evidence generation for sectoral advocacy in order to promote best practices for humanitarian WASH responses in line with key WASH sectoral strategies. For the January GWC newsletter edition
, we would therefore welcome submissions from partners and national coordination platforms on any new WASH initiative, guidance or documents, events, or key announcements from partners.
Kindly follow the inclusion criteria below:
- The item must clearly relate to either WASH in emergencies or WASH sector/cluster coordination.
- The item must be recent and contribute to current WASH crises (2020-2021), contexts, studies or technical innovations.
- The item title has a clear file naming format: Year + organization + country + short title.
- The item should be, as much as possible, finalized, and sent as a link to a website or in PDF format (apart from Excel doc). If still a draft, this should be indicated in the title and in the document with a watermark.
All items can be sent directly for inclusion to the next newsletter by Friday 22nd January 2021 to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We also would like to remind all that the Global WASH Cluster communicates and relays partner information on Twitter
and has just launched a new Linkedin group
to connect WASH cluster/sector professionals and advertise new positions related to WASH coordination / WASH in emergencies.
On behalf of CAST, we would like to again extend our appreciation to all of you, and a big thanks again for your interest in reading our newsletters. We look forward to our continued collaboration and engagement in 2021!
