The Cardinal wrapped up regular season competition this past weekend in Corvallis, Oregon splitting duals with host Oregon State and visiting Utah Valley. The 19-16 victory over Oregon State was the fourth consecutive win for the Cardinal over the Beavers, capping an undefeated Pac-12 dual season (4-0). Strong showings in the match were turned in from Tyler Eischens (174) and Nathan Traxler (Hwt), both of which earned bonus points in their individual bouts. The Cardinal found themselves on the short end of the stick in a 19-16 dual against Utah Valley immediately following the Oregon State match. Top individual performers in that match included Jared Hill (184) and Nick Stemmet (197). A full recap from Sunday's matches can be found here.
Traxler was recognized as the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week after a 2-0 showing that included a dual-clinching win by fall. He earns the honor after Requir Van der Merwe (149) accepted it the previous week for a 4-0 showing that included two wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Shane Griffith (165) also returned to action this weekend with a 4-0 performance, including three bonus-point victories.
The team returned to Stanford this past Monday and resumed training in their wrestling room for the first time since November today. Next up for the Cardinal is the Pac-12 Championships scheduled for Sunday, February 28th.
