Who Was Your Favorite Professor?

[Former William & Mary University Athletic Director, Samantha Huge]

There is a lot we can learn from the saga of Samantha Huge, the former Athletic Director at William & Mary who resigned earlier this week. First, it's never a good idea to plagiarize a close friend's work, which she did (literally word for word) when announcing the decision to cut seven varsity sports last month. Second, university faculty have tremendous influence on college campuses when they feel their institution is headed in the wrong direction.
"The announcement of Huge’s departure, which came at 3 p.m., might not have been a coincidence. The school’s Arts & Sciences Faculty was poised to vote on a motion of “no-confidence” in her leadership at its 3:30 p.m. meeting."

We too may have a powerful ally in the Stanford faculty, many of whom believe strongly in the value of the student-athlete experience and, especially, wrestling.

If you remain in contact with any of your former professors, now is the time to let them know what is happening. Please email, call or contact them to share our mission to reinstate Stanford Wrestling. Ask them to voice their displeasure to their department leadership and others who can join our fight. Don't wait until it's too late.

USAW Senior Nationals

In case you hadn't heard, a handful of Cardinal wrestlers are back in action at the Senior Nationals October 9-11 in Coralville, Iowa. Tyler Eischens (77 kg) will get things started with Greco-Roman on Friday, while Jaden Abas (65 kg) and Nathan Traxler (97 kg) will continue the fun with men's freestyle taking place over the weekend. Preseeds, competition schedule, and live event coverage are available via FloWrestling.

We are extremely close to crossing the $10 million in pledges milestone. We are grateful to the 144 alumni, family and friends who are supporting the campaign to endow Stanford Wrestling. However, we have a long way to go, and many more in our community have not yet made a pledge.

PLEASE visit and make your pledge today. Email if you have ANY questions or concerns.
