Hello Stonehill Church Family,
We look forward to worshiping with you this Sabbath!
Request to all members. Please bring an entrée to church this Sabbath for fellowship dinner. Thank you for your support.
The South Austin SDA Church will be having their annual chili cook-off on Feb. 3 at 6:00 PM in the fellowship hall. They would love to have everyone join them, either as competitors or simply as friends to share in food and fun. There will be prizes for winners of the different categories. Cost for all visitors is $5/person ages 10 and up.
The 5 categories for this year’s competition are: Medium/mild chili, Hot chili, Guacamole, Cornbread, and Brownies.
Please check the lost and found table by the conference room. All items not claimed by February 10, 2018, will be donated to a good cause.
Children's Activity Bags: If you are able to help with putting together the children’s bags for church, please contact Eldon Jensen or myself (Teresa@Stonehillchurch.org). The help will be much appreciated.
The Junior class is in need of leaders/teachers to help teach during Sabbath School. This would be a rotating teacher/leader position. Once or twice a month teaching availability would be most helpful. Please contact Esther Rotich @ (615) 525-7674 or Beth Sinha @ (540) 588-829. Thank you in advance!

Britain’s Queen and Heaven’s King
Leticia [let-EESIA] grew up in a staunch Sunday-keeping home in Guatemala but one day her mother sent her to live with her grandmother in Belize. Leticia was tired of being told that she couldn’t behave like other girls, so once in Belize, Leticia started going to dances and parties. After a while, a couple of Adventists started visiting Leticia’s home and studying the Bible with her uncle. One day when they were speaking about the gift of tongues, Leticia burst out of her room (where she had been eavesdropping) and told the Adventists what they were teaching was not right. She tried to show them her way of thinking. This started her studying the Bible with the Adventists. She started attending the Adventist church and decided to be baptized.
But her family was not happy with her decision. She was told if she decided to be baptized, she could forget she had any family there. It was a real struggle and she did not show up on the day that she was supposed to be baptized. Instead, she went partying. But the Lord did not leave her and she finally went to the pastor and asked for baptism. Her relatives were furious that she had been baptized and pressured her to renounce her faith by putting pork or lard in the food so she couldn’t eat it. She lived on cookies and milk for weeks. The only full meals she had were on Sabbaths when church members invited her to their homes for lunch. “That is when I learned that you should always open your door to newly baptized members because you never know what is happening in their lives,” Leticia said. “Get to know them and love them.”
Leticia soon returned home to her mother in Guatemala. Shortly afterwards, she met her future husband and they were married. Leticia went on to become a nurse and to plant churches in Guatemala and Belize with her husband. Her husband has since passed away. In 2016, Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II named her a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in recognition of her community service. But what really inspires Leticia is not the awards of people but God saying “Go, do this for me.” Leticia says “We are His servants. He says, ‘Do it.’ I want to hear Him say one day, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’”
