The new septic pump had to be unclogged only 2 days after the new pump was installed. The pump is still being clogged with wipes. We fervently need your help to prevent this from happening again – please, please, please do not flush baby wipes (not even wipes labeled as flushable!), feminine products, Clorox wipes, etc. Please dispose of these items in the trash can. Toilet paper and body waste are the only items that should be flushed. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Thank you to each one of you who have saved labels for our Labels for Missions project. We turned in over 500 labels last year. This year, however, we received new guidelines regarding what labels are accepted. Labels from canned foods (Worthington, Loma Linda and Caroline) are accepted but labels from frozen food of any brand are no longer accepted. All UPC codes from canned products must begin with 28989 or 45561. (Even though frozen foods may begin with these numbers, they are not accepted.) Watch the lobby for a “Labels for Missions” box of where to leave your labels.

Praise in Giving: Texas Vision
One fourth! Really?! “The contributions required of the Hebrews for religious and charitable purposes amounted to fully one fourth of their income” (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 527.) Wow. How could anybody live on that? Could you? But let’s consider the rest of the paragraph. “So heavy a tax upon the resources of the people might be expected to reduce them to poverty; but, on the contrary, the faithful observance of these regulations was one of the conditions of their prosperity…” “One of the conditions of our prosperity.” Well, Lord, is that why I am struggling, because my giving is not up to par? That’s a question that each of us needs to answer for ourselves. If we are not living within our means and are experience debt, may God help us to begin to take the necessary steps to be faithful and experience His blessings.

Gas Station Encounter

It couldn’t have been a worse time for a technical glitch to disrupt operations at the gas station where John Peña worked. They could not accept credit cards. To make matters worse, the ATM stopped dispensing cash. When a well-dressed man, driving a Cadillac, did not cash, only credit cards, John felt impressed to pay for his gas. The next day the man came back and returned payment. John forgot about the incident. That evening his father-in-law, Jim, invited him to church again. John decided to go. When Jim introduced the church pastor to John, they both felt they had seen each other before. They stared at each other for a moment. Then John exclaimed, “You’re the guy at the gas station!” “Oh!” the pastor said. “You’re the guy who paid for my gasoline!”

“To me it was a blessing,” John said. “I used to say that things were luck, but this was a blessing.” The encounter with the Adventist pastor left a deep impression on John. He started attending Sabbath church services. In 2015, there were evangelistic series held in the area. John helped pass out literature and doing home visitations but he did not go up to request baptism at the end of the meetings. The pastor asked what was keeping John from giving his heart to Jesus. John answered that he looked at others who are conveying the character of Christ and he didn’t know if he was clean enough. “If you keep looking at others and not at Christ, you will never want to be baptized,” the pastor replied. John was baptized with the others. John is now a deacon at the church and wants to reach his community for Christ.
