The deacons are coordinating breakfast and fellowship lunch next Sabbath in honor of Mother’s Day and they could use some help from the men. The theme for lunch is Italian. Lasagna, spaghetti and desserts are already provided. They could use help with salads, bread and pasta salad. If you are able to contribute food for lunch or if you want to donate money, please see Eldon or Roberto this Sabbath (May 6) to let them know.

I thank all my church family, Sabbath School classes and individuals for the beautiful cards and sweet remembrances sent to me on the loss of my husband, Owen. I love my church here in Arroyo Grande, but no earthly church could take the place in my heart of “Stonehill”. I totally trust Jesus who is faithful and true. As for my health, “so far – so good”. God bless Stonehill SDA. – Teatsy

School Garden: Please don’t leave food in the school garden. It is attracting bugs and ants. Thank you.

Internationally-celebrated concert pianist, Jerry Nelson, who had performed on all continents (except Antarctica) will be in concert May 20, 2017, at Stonehill for the 11 o’clock hour. As a composer, arranger, conductor and studio producer, he has worked with orchestras worldwide and his creative touch appears on over 500 recorded projects. He started out at the age of 10 playing piano for a small Minnesota church but today, Jerry and Rachel are focused on a full-time concert career. Much of the proceeds of their efforts enable occasional trips to the Congo and Rwanda where Jerry performs concerts and teaches music while Rachel works with AIDS victims and coordinating microloan financing for the most impoverished woman with young families to feed. Invite your friends, family and neighbors to join us May 20. There is no charge for admission but a love offering will be taken.

The Healing School
Editor’s Note: Two principals of Gabon’s Adventist secondary school, one current and the other former, share stories of students whose lives were transformed when they met Jesus in their classrooms.
Mapikoud was heavily involved in drinking and drugs. He was 18 years old and only in seventh grade because he repeated so many classes. His parents brought him to us to see if we could help him since they had not had success in helping their son. “If he doesn’t change, he’ll be ruined.” We enrolled Mapikoud and assured him he could turn his life around, that it would be hard work on his part but we would be with him every step of the way. We studied the Bible with him, prayed with him every morning, advised on how to make healthy choices and gave him responsibilities such as being student leader of the class. Mapikoud gradually began to grow intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. He stopped drinking and taking drugs and gave his heart to Jesus. His parents were so happy with the changes, they also sent him younger brother to our school.
Another student who experienced an extraordinary transformation in her life if a young woman named Dorcas. I don’t know what happened to her parents, but she lived with her grandmother when she came to our school. She smoked and drank and engaged in all kinds of unhealthy behavior; she knew absolutely nothing about God. Dorcas accepted Jesus as her Saviour and was baptized. She has her Bible with her all the time now and has sermons and Ellen White books on her phone. She’s even leading her classmates and neighbors to Christ. One student told us “We don’t recognize Dorcas anymore. She’s completely changed. It’s hard to believe she’s the same person.” Dorcas is only one of hundreds of children whose lives have been recreated as a result of meeting Jesus at our Adventist school in Gabon. Thank you for your support this thirteenth Sabbath with a generous offering to help built another secondary school in Gabon so that we can share Jesus with more students.
