Religious Liberty Focus: Got Religious Liberty? Unfortunately, the concept of religious liberty and how to defend these liberties have been distorted. It is time to remind ourselves, as Christians, the true liberty in Jesus that no government or political authority can take away from us. On February 4th, Ravi Jillapalli, PhD, in a divine service presentation titled, “Defending the True Liberty in Jesus” will explore the true liberty in Jesus and how to defend it.
The Message: Eunice Davis (Special Prayer Ministry Presentation)

A Walk in the Park
From her earliest childhood Dorota longed to hear God’s voice. That was an unusual desire for a child growing up in the eastern European country of Poland. At 5 years of age, when she could not hear God in the Roman Catholic Church that she attended with her grandfather, he took her to the countryside. “Now you can open your heart and mind and speak to God openly and sincerely, and He will hear you.” Dorota was very happy because from that time on, she really heard God.
Many of the community did not understand her relationship with God, but Dorota kept close to God, praying every day. She eventually married and had a son and a daughter. But her health deteriorated. “People said to me, ‘You pray so much. If this God existed, He wouldn’t allow you to suffer so much.’ But I persisted in my prayers,” says Dorota, “and I believed that He would help me go through this. He never left me. I always felt His presence.”
Dorota decided to travel to Northern Ireland to find help for her health problems. In Belfast, she learned that she didn’t have the disease she was originally diagnosed with and treated for during the last 17 years. Soon she was feeling better.
She settled in Carryduff and while there, met a Seventh-day Adventist lady in the park who shared her faith with Dorota, which led to Bible studies. Dorota soon made plans to be baptized, but wanted the service to be in her homeland.
Traveling back to Poland for her baptism, her only regret was that her grown children were unable to come with her. But through Hope Channel Poland, her children were able to watch and share in her joy with her. Now back in Ireland, she invites her Polish speaking friends to her home after church where they watch Hope Sabbath School.
“I’m grateful to God for the illness that forces me to come to Ireland,” says Dorota. “I could really get to know God, and thanks to this I got to know Seventh-day Adventists. Now I don’t feel strange anymore with not fitting, not belonging. I feel like I’ve come home.”
