Leo’s Legacy, part 2
Editor’s Note: Last week we met Bienvevu, who had just learned that he’d have to choose between obeying God and keeping his well-paying job. This week he shares how God led him to the perfect work opportunity to help the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Gabon.
I’m starting all over again! Bienvevu thought as he quite the best-paying job he’d ever had. He need a job to be able to help support his Mother since his Dad had passed away but he had chosen to obey God rather than keep his job. He prayed for another job that allowed him to serve God.
One night after praying, Bienvevu had a strange dream. In the dream he was so busy thinking about his problems that he was not able to listen to what a stranger was telling him. When the stranger stood to leave, Bienvevu remembered the story in the Bible of the angel that visited Jacob, where Jacob had refused to let the angel go unless the angel blessed him. Wondering if this might be an angel, Bienvevu grasped the man by the foot and cried out for him not to leave him. When the man asked what he wanted, Bienvevu said he wanted to be rich. The stranger looked at him sadly and said “I have something to give you, but you’re not ready to receive it.” “What will you give me?” Bienvevu asked but didn’t hear the answer because he woke up from his dream. He immediately knelt to pray telling God he didn’t want to be rich but wanted whatever God wanted to give him and that he wanted to be able to reach people for God.
Soon after this Bienvevu started studying multimedia technology and realized these skills could help the church promote the gospel. He started photographing church events and weddings. With the money earned from the weddings, he purchased more cameras and hired people to work for him. He has created videos of the church programs and choir performances that have been aired on local television. Bienvevu praises God that he has been able to help put a face on their church that people are beginning to recognize. Bienvevu is grateful that God inspired an Adventist man to reach out to his family after the death of his brother and now he wants to reach out to others. He wants everyone in Gabon to know that Jesus loves them and died for them and is coming soon to take them home.
