There have been some changes to the fellowship lunch schedule for the coming year. Please notice that the first Sabbath of each month is Invite a Guest Home for Lunch. Let’s plan now to not let anyone go without an invitation to lunch on the first Sabbaths of the month.
Language Translation: A new service is here at Stonehill—simultaneous English/Spanish translation of the sermon. We would like to reach out to everybody who is fluid in English and Spanish to volunteer in helping us to reach as many people as possible. We are hoping the service can be extended to other languages as well and make Stonehill even a bigger family. Those interested in participating can contact Marco Mendoza at any time of the day via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and/or by phone at 512.406.9130. Marco is also available Sabbaths, usually at the Spanish Bible Study.
Praise in Giving: Local Church Budget
God's faithfulness. Pastor Dennis Childers tells following story. A few months after he and his wife was married, he quit his steady job to go to work for a company selling cemetery plots on a commission basis. It was hard work and he made hardly any sales. About the same time, his wife was laid off from her job. One month they had just enough in the bank to cover their rent and he contemplated holding back the tithe from his wife’s small compensation check just until things got better for them. But then the thought came to him that if they did that, it would become easier to continue that practice and the tithe owed to God would snowball to a point that they could never make it up. That Sabbath, they gave back to God what was rightfully His…and the following week he made a sale. God was truly faithful to Mr. Childers and his wife as they stepped out in faith and were faithful to Him. God will always be faithful!

Knowing the Right People
The local Seventh-day Adventists leaders in Yangon, the capital city of Myanmar, needed to build a bigger school building for the local Seventh-day Adventist school. They had outgrown the 2 small buildings that they used and had to turn away students. But in Myanmar, it is not who you are or what you have but who you know that counts. These leaders tried to get authorization to build but did not have the connections needed. The General Conference recognized the need for a new school and a portion of a 2012 Thirteenth Sabbath offering was allocated for the building project. But still the leaders were unable to find the right connections in the city government to approve the project. Three years passed.
Then new church leadership was chosen in general election. These leaders did not have any connections either. But Samuel Saw, president of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, gently reproached the church leaders saying “Yes, you don’t have the connections and don’t know the right people. But we have God. If we ask Him, He will get us through.” The leaders prayed and again filed a new request for a city building permit. This time they were greeted at the front desk by a friendly lady who had children attending the Adventist school and who had studied there herself. She advised she would make sure that all necessary documents were approved. And she did. In a short time, construction started on the school building. The 6-story building was dedicated in 2017. Samuel Saw says “We may not have connections with the authorities, but we have the most important connection of all – with God.”
