Praise in Giving: Local Church Budget
Two seas, two results. The Sea of Galilee is alive with fish and other creatures. The Dead is does not have anything living in it. What makes the difference? The Jordan River flows through the fresh water Sea of Galilee keeping it alive. In contrast, the Dead See receives from the Jordan but has not outlet. The water stagnates and largely evaporates, and nothing can live in it due to lack of oxygen and extremely high saline condition. The Dead Sea is truly dead because there is no throughput. So-called “Christians” who have no throughput are dead. Only by constantly receiving and giving may we continue to be healthy Christians, receiving of the Lord, and then empowered by Him to be a blessing to others.

Letters From Heaven
A surprise letter arriving in Clifford Long’s mailbox, in the U.S. state of Virginia, started it all. The handwritten message asked if they would like Bible studies. Clifford and his wife, Cathy, had been talking about finding a place to worship. But they did not know which church was right. Now Clifford started taking the Bible studies and he started learning many things. He couldn’t wait to send the studies in and get the next one. He completed three sets of Bible studies by Discover, Amazing Facts, and the Voice of Prophecy. Then the power plant where Clifford had worked for 27 years, was shut down and Clifford was forced into early retirement.
After the plant closed, Clifford and Cathy were invited to evangelistic series at the Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church. They eagerly came to each meeting. During the meetings, Cathy was told by doctors that she needed to undergo nasal surgery, but she refused to schedule the procedure until after the meetings. When the meetings finished Clifford and Cathy were baptized. Clifford wants other people to take the Bible studies. He has shared them with his two adults sons and neighbors.
