Developing Loving Relationships with
hrist and Our Community.

Hello Stonehill Church Family,

We look forward to worshiping with you this Sabbath!

And therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious unto you, and therefore will He be exalted, that He may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for Him. For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: He will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when He shall hear it, He will answer thee. And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. Isaiah 30:18-21

Mission Ministry

No Saturday Classes
Nikita’s Seventh-day Adventist mother taught him about God when he was a young boy, but his father prevented him from going to church. He said that Nikita could do whatever he wanted after he turned 18. But until then, he said, Nikita had to obey him. Once Nikita turned 18 he moved away to study architecture at a university in the city of Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia. The first thing he did was find the nearest Seventh-day Adventist church. He began to study the Bible carefully and keep the Sabbath. Almost immediately he ran into problems with his classes. Each time he missed a Saturday class, he received a letter from his teacher. If a student received too many letters, he could be expelled. Nikita’s father was big on education and was furious when he learned Nikita was attending church instead of classes.
Nikita’s mother was happy he was putting God first and prayed with him. Nikita also prayed. He asked the university dean for permission not to study on Saturdays. But the dean said he could not make an exception. Nikita then asked each teacher individually for permission to skip Saturday classes. This worked for a while. But some teacher disliked Nikita and did not understand why he missed Saturday classes. One day the dean called him into his office and gave Nikita the ultimatum that he had been dreading. “If you skip one more class on Saturday, I will expel you.” They prayed about the situation at church and two pastors went to visit the dean to explain why Nikita was skipping classes. God intervened and the dean said Nikita could stay if he agreed to engage in extracurricular work for the university.
When that dean left, Nikita’s problems started again. The biggest trouble was when one teacher refused to give Nikita a final exam. Nikita had not attended any of her classes since they were on Saturday. His classmates gave him the assignments and delivered the homework they had covered on Saturdays. But when Nikita explained to the teacher why he couldn’t take the final exam on Saturday, she said, “Come to class on Saturday, or don’t come at all.” Nikita thought this was the end of his education. Nikita cried out to God to intervene. One day the teacher passed him on the sidewalk. Then she stopped and turned to him. “Come to my office and show me your homework,” she said. This teacher had refused to work with Nikita all semester but God had changed her heart. Nikita passed the class.
Through the Sabbath challenges, Nikita has learned to obey God and to surrender to Him. "I am grateful that He has given me confidence and hope for the future." Nikita is not worried about the future. God has been faithful in fulfilling His promise to uphold him with His righteous right hand. And Nikita’s last exam before graduation is scheduled for a weekday!
