Hello Stonehill Church Family,
We look forward to worshiping with you this Sabbath!
Stonehill Christian Academy will be performing a Christmas musical "In a Galilee Far, Far Away" for church this Sabbath December 9, 2017. The school children have worked diligently practicing for the program. Come support our children and enjoy the program. Please help the kitchen crew by bringing an extra dish or two for fellowship dinner.
Join us for a fun night of dinner and bowling on Saturday, December 9!
Chipotle (2424 FM 685, Pflugerville) is hosting a fundraiser for our school. You can eat dinner there anytime between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. When you mention you're with Stonehill Christian Academy, they will donate 50% of the proceeds to the school.
If you want to bowl after you eat, we suggest getting to Chipotle sometime between 6-7:30 p.m. After you eat, just go 1 mile down the same road, and meet us at Spare Time (1724 FM 685, Pflugerville).
We reserved and paid for bowling lanes from 7:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. You need to pay only for shoe rental: $3.99 for size 5 and bigger and $2.99 for smaller sizes.
Spare Time also has laser tag and an arcade. If you want a discount for laser tag, you must reserve your spot with Mike Escalante (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Thursday, December 7. To get a discount for the arcade, you can tell Spare Time staff on the night of the event that you’re with Stonehill Christian Academy. Any costs related to laser tag and the arcade must be paid for by you.
The Stonehill Choir presents “Little Lion, Little Lamb” - Please join us for a very special Christmas cantata that the whole family will enjoy. This year’s performance features the Children’s Chorus. December 16, 2017. Doors open at 6:30 pm; performance begins at 7 pm. Admission is free!
Please help the church cut down on expenses.
1. As much as possible, please throw food away in the trash instead of putting food down the garbage disposal. Everything put down the garbage disposals of the island sinks, ends up in the lift station, causing it to have to be pumped more often.
2. Help conserve energy by keeping the sanctuary doors closed as much as possible so that extra expenses are not incurred trying to heat/cool the sanctuary when not in use.
3. Please turn out the lights in areas not in use, especially turning them off when leaving.
4. Do not flush baby wipes or feminine items. They block up the pump in the lift station causing expense in needing to have the lift station pumped more often, fixing the pump, or even possibly the need to replace the pump.
Thank you for your help.

Sharing Jesus on a Train
Being a Christian is not about talking the talk. Being a Christian is about living so that people who look at you see that something about you is different. Then they ask questions, and you can reply with enthusiasm because you know the Answer. But if no one asks you anything, then you have no reason to talk. I think of ways to get people to ask questions. I don’t think it is right to start a conversation by discussing the Sabbath or another doctrine. Instead, I want strangers to see that I have something that they need.
The other day I boarded a train in Lviv [Le-VIV] for an overnight trip to Kiev [kee-YEHV], the capital of Ukraine. I reserved a bed in a two-person sleeping compartment, and the other passenger turned out to be a woman. I asked her if she was from Lviv, or if she had been there on business. She was heading home to Kiev. I then told her that I am a former church leader and have many friends from around the world. When they would visit the Ukraine, they sometime invite me to meet them in Kiev. I then gave a short biography of my life. My words interested the woman who asked which church I helped lead. I responded by asking her which church she attended.
During our conversation she realized I was not an Orthodox believer and she asked what was the difference between my church and the Orthodox church. “Orthodox believers worship on Sunday, and we worship on Saturday,” I said. I pointed her to the Ten Commandments, especially the Fourth Commandment. Our conversation continued for a long time. When we arrived in Kiev the next morning, the woman introduced me to her husband, who was waiting at the train station. She and her husband helped me carry my luggage into the train station’s waiting room and told me to call if nobody arrived to pick me up. “We’ll take care of you,” the woman said. This is mission outreach! Now I have a new friend who is interested in learning more about God and His truths. I will continue to converse with her.
