Mission Ministry

Gold in Their Hearts
Theda came from a broken family and although her mother was a Bible worker, she was out of the church for a long time. She left home at the age of 18 and went through one relationship after another, going with any man who showed her attention. She became an alcoholic, not being able to go a day without alcohol. In spite of this, she became a nurse and kept her job. For more than a decade, her mother was praying for her, pleading earnestly for her soul.
At age 30, Theda suffered a bad accident and had time to read the books that her mother had even her, books by Ellen White. The one that caught her attention was The Truth About Angels. She knew she needed to stop drinking but didn’t know how. One evening, experiencing an unbelievable strength of purpose, she poured all her wine down the toilet. She removed people from her life that were a bad influence, moved to another city and returned to church. But she started drinking again. Soon, however, the Lord drew her back. She took 7 days off work and every hour during the first 3 days, she went to her knees pleading for God’s help. She went on fresh juice, water, fruit, nuts and seeds. Her body cleansed. When an evangelist came to Ireland, she attended the meetings and was baptized.
Theda became involved with Cuisle (pronounced COOSH-le) Centre, a new center operated by Adventist on the south side of Dublin, where she helps the people who visit the center and prays with them. Once gentleman had skin cancer by his eye and was in pain. She took him to the church and prayed with him. He wanted to stop smoking and the center put him on the stop smoking plan.
Theda says “Some people – God just put gold in their hearts. I love community people. It’s so important to us to be here. People come in because they’re tired of walking around all day with themselves. But here they find someone who cares about them and is willing to help.”
