VASI Fall Picnic – Thank you from the board

Great attendance as usual.  Coordinating it with a VERY successful EAA Young Eagles worked out exremely well.  To see pictures and read more see the latest post on the subject here.

Having the picnic "outside the fence" so to speak allowed all the young eagles and their families to join and learn about VASI and the Airport.  If you see any of our barbecue masters please thank them.

More improvements in store for your Venice Airport

On October 23rd, The Venice City Council approved the Mayor signing an agreement to initiate the engineering design for the new Airport Administration Building (referred to by the State as a Terminal). Actual construction work may start likely sometime later next year. The new building will replace the existing structure which has numerous problems and is in poor condition.  Additionally the Council gave the Airport Director the go-ahead to complete the design work on the extension of Taxiway D. The Taxiway D extension when complete will provide for a Taxiway running the full parallel length of Venice's Primary Runway 13 - 31. The money is available so work should start in 2019. Following completion of Taxiway D, Taxiway E is next up which will provide a full parallel Taxiway for Runway 13 - 31. VASI President Dave Wimberly spoke to the City Council in support of both projects emphasizing the safety enhancements of the full length Taxiways and the need to replace the existing Airport Administration Building which is in bad shape.

Remaining ever vigilant of airport and city activities as it relates to OUR airport is at the core of the VASI AIM.

New Website

As noted at the October meeting the new website is on schedule to launch week 1 of November.  It sports a new responsive design which will allow it to work equally well on your smart phone as well as your PC or Mac as well as brand new graphics and sections to help student pilots (our future), local residents (our allies) as well as pilots (our members).

For a sneak peek click here.

After the November launch we will be working to add fresh new content to each section.  To this end, We are looking for those who can write well to help write articles for the appropriate sections.  Please send us your topics and suggestions to VASI Communications
