We've got you covered for a week of great social, fun activities. Just come and join us at Student Central from 11am until 2pm everyday Monday through Thursday!

Daily activities include wear your Onesie competition, winter cookie decorating, hot chocolate and fruit cake, snow dancer making and plenty of winter themed photo ops in our winter wonderland corner .......and don't forget to post your winter break photo on our Facebook page to enter the Winter Break Photo Take competition!   Lots and lots of PRIZES to be won!


ASA Ball 2015

Thursday August 20th   

You’ve been waiting for it and now we can reveal the details of ASA’s 2015 Ball.  The theme is Hollywood 1940’s style so you’ll have the opportunity to dress to impress. We have confirmed the Auckland museum as the venue and this year’s ball will include a sit-down buffet style dinner and all the dancing you can handle.  Optional transport ($10) to and from the venue can be booked when purchasing your ticket.

Tickets go on sale Monday 13th July and are $75 each.  Each Massey student can bring 1 guest.  The event is strictly 18+ and you will need photo ID as proof of your of age to gain access. (Driver’s Licence, passport or R18+card.)

Class Advocates Wanted!

Help maintain your quality education!
We are now recruiting class advocates for semester 2 papers. Class advocates perform an important communication role between your classmates, lecturers and the ASA. All class advocates are offered training (which comes with lunch!) and the ASA Advocacy Service is always available to offer support.  You are able to sign up to be a class advocate for each paper that you take. You will gain useful practical skills in addition to it looking good on your CV.

Get your Onesie on!

Wear your onesie to Uni and Win!

Time to have heaps of fun with the added bonus of a chance to win a prize. All you need to do is to wear your onesie to Uni during the Winterfest and if we spot you in and around Student Central you'll be in to win a PRIZE!!!!

Clubs' Day 

Wednesday 15th July
Head along to Student Central on Wednesday 15th July to find out about all of the clubs that are available to join on campus. Lots on offer including a climbing wall from the Rock Climbing Club and laser cutting from AMESS.  For more information regarding clubs on campus check out our website.
Don't miss out on the Semester Break Photo Take Competition
A chance to win up to a $150 in gift vouchers!
All you need to do is snap some winter photos and be in to win a $50 Westfield voucher. There are four categories to enter in: 1) Overseas Travel, 2) Celebrate NZ, 3) Crazy, wacky/humorous and 4) What I did on my winter break.  The overall winner wins an extra $100 voucher.

University Challenge team needed

Represent Massey University on TV
For an all-expenses paid week in Wellington, we are looking for 5 Massey Students (internal, distance from anywhere in NZ) to represent Massey in the television quiz show University Challenge. Ideally, we need 5 people with different areas of expertise. The Massey team will be competing against teams from other universities and attempting to de-throne current University of Canterbury champions.

Filming is during the semester break, 24-29th August, but we need to get the team confirmed in July. Flights, accommodation and meals included! If you think you're up for the challenge get in touch with us ASAP! 


ASA Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Wednesday 22nd July, 12pm, Student Lounge
All students are invited and encouraged to attend. We'll make sure we have pizza on offer so that no-one goes hungry. Affiliated clubs must send a representative to the AGM as a condition of affiliation.  On the agenda: Approval of 2014 annual report and financials, constitutional changes, ratification of 2016 draft budget.   And did we mention, FREE PIZZA??

MAMC Movie Night - Interstellar

Thursday 16th July, 6pm, Student Lounge
Massey Albany Movie Club invite you to join them for their Winterfestival viewing of INTERSTELLAR.  Make sure you get to the lounge nice and early so you can reserve the best bean bag in the house. You'll find more info re Interstellar and their regular movie nights on their FB page.  We've heard there will be hot chocolate and cookies!!! 


29th,31st July & 1st August, 6pm, Theatre Lab
MUTS present their Bitsa prize winning play ON THE BORDER. The story takes the audience from birth to age and is a dramatic portrayal of one woman's history of abuse and how her personality developed coping mechanisms. 
Performances will be at the Theatre Lab are on July 29th at 7 p.m., July 31st at 7 p.m., August 1st, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. performance at 7p.m. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.  Tickets ($5) will be available at the door from 6.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. (matinee).  (Photo is from previous BITSA performance!)

Waikato Invitational Tournament

Friday 14th August, Waikato University
Team Albany will be heading to Waikato University to take part in an Inter-Uni competition.  Deadline for team entry is 23rd July.  All competition is at a social / mixed team level.
  • Football - 6-a-side, min 2 females on field at all times
  • Basketball - 5v5, min 2 females on court at all times
  • Netball - 7-a-side, min 1, max 2 males on court at any time and must play in different court sections
  • Touch - 6-a-side, min 2 females on field at all times
  • Volleyball - 6-a-side, min 2 females on court at all times
