Road trip

My husband and I left on another road trip.  This time we're headed to southern Utah to see several state and national parks and monuments.  Here are a few things to set the mood for a big road trip through the big outdoors.

Tracy Chapman's Fast Car is the perfect "let's get away" song.  The story of how she was discovered is included in this epic Rolling Stone article, "100 Best Albums of the Eighties."

My friend Kaiti shared this article on Lin Manuel Miranda's classical influences. Thanks, Kaitie; this adds another 100 miles to my road-trip playlist!

Native America is a worthwhile four-part series on PBS.  I've always respected the history and culture of the people who first called America home.  What I'm noting now is that so much more of their story is being told, and it's not all in the past tense.

It is peak season for blossoming trees in the mountain west.  Rabih Alameddine, a Lebanese-American painter and writer shared a nice collection of blossom art on Twitter.

When I'm missing my two dogs, Holly and Momo, I watch some Mabel and Olive videos.  My sister Peggy turned me on to them. I love to laugh out loud.
In case you missed it, here are the blogs I posted since my last newsletter:
The photo at the top of this newsletter was taken by my husband, Steve, at Aztec Ruins National Monument in Aztec, New Mexico.
