300 buckets of joy

Our sincere thanks to everyone who supported our Yellow Bucket Christmas Appeal.

With your help, we filled and delivered 300 yellow buckets with gourmet Christmas goodies. The reactions from recipients reinforced the importance of reaching out to people with kindness, love and compassion at Christmas time. There were loads of smiles, lots of hugs and even tears of happiness. Thank you for helping us to share the joy.

We are deeply grateful to McConachie Stedman for showing their big hearts and supporting us for the third year as major sponsor. Thank you to Ben, Amanda and all their staff for their enthusiasm towards the Appeal, filling a huge 31 buckets on their own.

A special thanks to our major sponsor

Adrift donation

We are so grateful to Adrift Clothing for their generous donation of $15,000.

Each year, this Queensland business supports a charity and we were thrilled when they chose us. This donation will be shared between The Haven to fund our young people's education and our Disability Support program to start the process of converting our Hill Street premises into a welcoming Disability Day Centre.
It will make a huge difference and we are so grateful to Bec and her staff and customers.

Mel's legacy

Mel Martin's kitchen shop was an iconic business in the Toowoomba CBD.

After his sudden death, his family faced the tough job of sorting through his extensive collection of gifts and homewares.
Following a massive clearing sale they decided to donate the last pieces to our boutique op shop Collectables, resulting in many boxes of quality, unused items. We are incredibly grateful for their kindness and generosity, which will greatly benefit our social enterprise supporting people with a disability.

CEO's Comment

Penny Hamilton, Chief Executive

There is something very satisfying about welcoming in a brand new year. 365 days at your disposal to do with whatever you please.

At YellowBridge we are very excited to open the book on 2019 as we have big plans and even bigger dreams and are ready to dive in head first.

This year will see us move to new premises on Ruthven Street (former Skate City). With a contemporary design in this urban space, we are very much looking forward to coming together as one team and capturing the energy and efficiency of being together. Our very important satellite premises of The Haven and the refurbished Disability Day Centre in Hill Street will complete the suite of spaces we call home.

2019 will also see the commencement and completion of four fully customised specialised disability units as a contribution to addressing the housing crisis in Toowoomba for people with a disability. With a generous $450,000 donation from Hand Heart Pocket the Charity of Freemasons Queensland, YellowBridge will be able to purchase one of these units and accommodate two people with the greatest need. We are excited about the project and look forward to cutting the ribbon and accommodating clients in a fit-for-purpose place and offering them life-long security of a place to call home.

YellowBridge is privileged to be able to continue to deliver support and services to our elderly citizens, homeless youth, people with a disability and community members requiring housing support. Our focus will always be to support our clients to lead proud and rewarding lives. We also look forward to taking up opportunities as they emerge to provide more much-needed services.

We know there will never be enough time in a day, or enough resources to make everything perfect for the people we serve … but we know that what we do in 2019 will  make it better.

Today is the first blank page of a 365-page book. Write a good one.
