Welcome back from the Summer break! The department has an exciting year lined up, full of interesting visiting artist lectures and programs.
I encourage you to join us for all that you can manage. Each semester we host bus trips to NYC, Concentrator BBQs and department-wide social events - all of which are terrific opportunities to meet your fellow VA Concentrators and a great time to connect with faculty outside the studio. The List Art Building, home to the Visual Art Department, also houses rotating student exhibitions in its four gallery locations. The Department Diversity and Inclusion Committee also hosts town-hall meetings and events throughout the year that we hope you attend.
Please stay in touch with your Concentration advisor throughout the year and look for updates in this newsletter. My office hours are Tuesdays from Noon-2PM and by appointment. Please feel free to stop in with any concerns or just to say hello!

VA Department Undergraduate Group (DUG) Leaders
Please help us welcome the 2018-2019 DUGs Kat Chavez '19, Tia Forsman ‘19, and Caitlin Takeda '20. These students are chosen each year to help their peers connect with one another, with faculty, and with alumni. VA DUGs participate in concentration fairs, give guided tours of our facilities to prospective students, organize annual open studio events and assist with the annual juried university-wide student art show at the Bell Gallery.
