Birding with Leslie Bostrom and Jo-Ann Conklin | Your Corner of the World

Brown Arts Initiative is pleased to introduce Your Corner of the World, a series of conversations and interviews. Listen in as Brown Faculty and Staff talk with their colleagues, collaborators, and community about how they are weathering this moment from their own corners of the world. This week join Leslie Bostrom, Professor of Visual Art, and Jo-Ann Conklin, Director of the David Winton Bell Gallery as they talk about what birds you might see out your window and around Rhode Island and discuss a number of Leslie’s paintings. Juried Exhibition Artwork Recovery

If you had artwork in the Granoff Center for the 40th Annual Juried Student Exhibition, please do not attempt to collect your work; the building is closed until further notice. We are working to mail all artwork back to students, as well as allowing for Fall pick-up of your artwork(s) if you will be on campus next semester. You should have received an email regarding artwork recovery for the Juried Show. Please fill out this form to let us know if we should ship your artwork to you, or if you will be back in the Fall to collect your artwork.

Opportunities

Partner with the Brown Arts Initiative
While Brown Arts Initiative recognizes the seriousness of our current situation, BAI is hopeful that together we can start to envision new ways of engaging with the arts. With that in mind, BAI is excited to roll out a series of new opportunities and ways you can work with us. Students, faculty and departments can now apply to partner with BAI to receive support for arts-based projects, programs, and research that would otherwise not be possible. Think lofty. Think unusual. Think serious. Think fun. Think towards the future. Additional information can be found at the link below. Learn more
here.

BAI Community Development Grants
The Brown Arts Initiative is happy to introduce a new grant opportunity for Rhode Island-resident practicing artists whose income has been severely impacted by the effects of COVID-19. Grant awards will be made in support of project development for inclusion in the first year of programming for "Remaking the Real", BAI's new three-year theme. More info and apply
here.

Paid Photoshop Editing Work

The Social Cognitive Science Lab is looking for a student to help with a Photoshop project. They have a series of images that they would like objects added and removed from. The goal is to make the images graphically compelling. Compensation is available. If interested, please reach out to Vivienne Chi.
