VA Department Undergraduate Group (DUG) Leaders
Please help us welcome the 2020-2021 DUGs Sylvia Atwood '22, Rebecca Ho ‘21, and Tèo Obiaya '21. These students are elected each year to help their peers connect with one another, with faculty, and with alumni. VA DUGs participate in concentration fairs, give guided tours of our facilities to prospective students, and help organize concentrator events throughout the year.

MCM Movies | Weekly Virtual Screening
Thursdays through May 21st

MCM Movies is a weekly virtual screening. Each film was chosen with ideas of fantasy and escapism in mind. Every week, films are introduced by a member of the MCM community and attendees are encouraged to discuss what they're watching via Zoom chat. The Brooklyn Rail. a monthly art publication, is currently hosting a series of talks and conversations with artists, intellectuals, and critics. Virtually, join Nancy Prophet Fellow Tayana Fincher to discuss Tell Them, I Am, a podcast focusing on small defining moments and characteristics that make individual Muslims who they are. In conjunction with the upcoming exhibition, It Comes in Many Forms: Islamic Art from the Collection, this program shares perspectives to inspire conversation about identity, representation, and global Muslim communities. Misha Euceph, the podcast's creator and producer, will join us for this last session. Click here to register.


Partner with Brown Arts Initiative 
Students, faculty, and departments can now apply to partner with BAI to receive support for art-based projects, programs, and research that would otherwise not be possible. Additional information can be found at their website 

Brown Outdoor Leadership Training
Brown Outdoor Leadership Training, BOLT, is the only outdoor orientation program in the country specifically for rising college sophomores and transfers. It is a space created to foster community, mentorship, personal reflection, and leadership in the outdoors and back at Brown. BOLT is committed to welcoming everyone into the program regardless of background or ability to pay. No outdoor or backpacking experience necessary. Find out more and apply

BrownConnect Collaborative SPRINT Awards
The College in partnership with CareerLAB, the Sheridan Center for Teaching & Learning, and the Swearer Center for Public Service will offer new opportunities for students to receive funding for remote short-term internships, course development projects, and community engagement experiences. This summer, the award will continue to support those opportunities that can be carried out remotely and also create new, flexible, shorter-term options to support a greater number of students. Call for Entry | Printed Matter 
Printed Matter, a non-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination and appreciation of artist books, is accepting mail art submissions. Selections will be featured daily on their Instagram The deadline for submissions is May 18th. Visit the project website for details.

Joslin Award Deadline Extended
The Joslins are awarded to a select group of seniors whose contributions to the quality of student lie at Brown are truly exemplary. Nominees must be college seniors anticipated to graduate in May 2020 or December 2020. Learn more here.
